Default Official Press Release: Details of Tomorrow\'s First Live Task

Big Brother Announces first Live Task

This year Big Brother has a brand new live ‘task’ show on a Saturday night in which the housemates must complete their weekly task live in front of the nation.

Tomorrow evening (Saturday 1st June) at 9pm on Channel 4 the housemates will be given their first live task. This will be a group general knowledge quiz. The housemates must choose one category from sport, politics or entertainment and will be asked 10 questions on their chosen subject. If they get 7 or above correct they win … below 7 and they lose. This week they are playing for all or nothing. If they win they get £400 housekeeping money and if they lose they get nothing. If they lose they will be provided only basic rations including pasta, rice and flour to supplement the supply of eggs and vegetables from the garden. They will have no hot water for the week.

Notes to editors:
The questions for tomorrow night’s quiz task will be set by the British Quiz Association.

That seems really harsh, Lee. If they lose, I think they may ALL take a leaf out of Sunita's book and walk!!!!

I think it sounds harsh as well. Not having any money for food and no hot water. I do think that C4 look as though they are going to be taking these new stricter rules a bit too far this year. It would serve them right if everyone did walk.

Also, I think it would have been good to do a physical challenge cos at the moment they are all just moping about...then again, they will prob appreciate it more when they are even more bored and just moping around all the time in a few weeks time.

I think that sound's really bad as well, I don't want to see people suffering, it's not supposed to be a prisoner of war camp. Ch 4 better watch it this year they may go too far.

And also (sorry, i know im getting a bit mad with this topic...) we're not there too watch them suffer with no food but we are there to see how 12 people interact with each other in a strange environment.

PEOPLE NEED THEIR FOOD!!!!

I think it's good and it will really sort the men out from the boys if you ask me. At least the overall winner will really deserve it and everybody could be proud of their time in the house.

I thought I heard Alex say that they were betting 100% on the task.
Surely they arn't allowed to bet until they know what the task is, or has that all changed this year?
I don't remember them being given the task yet.
If they have and they decided on 100% then the onus is on them surely?
Can someone put me right?
If they are that naive and think they can pass the task then they obviously havn't a clue.

They were talking about how much they should bet on their first task the other night, jbellemeg. And they said maybe they should be the first BB lot to gamble the whole 100%.

However, from LEE's press release, it would seem that they have no option - Big Brother has decided their gamble for them - all or nothing.

I know they said they were getting tougher this year ........... but that is just a bit much, especially just after the shock eviction having been sprung on them.

I suppose if you are going to show a task live on television, you have to make the reward or penalty more meaningful than last years tasks.

However, I think it shows the producers are getting a bit twitchy about the success of the show.

They're worried that Big Brother is going to be overshadowed by the World Cup, or just won't be as good as last year, so are coming up with gimmicks like this and the surprise eviction.

I'm really looking forward to the tasks now, after tonight it's going to be really interesting to see how people cope, and if any leaders emerge.

Very strict Big Brother this year. I agree that they may feel they're in competition with the World Cup so they need something a little bit controversial to keep people watching.

It will be interesting and, if they fail, how will Jade manage. Bless her - she's always either eating or talking about food!
