What on earth has that to do with what I said? You have to remember that this small microcosm of fanatics does not represent the greater public.
You'd be surprised! Thats a classic ad tool for a recognizeable symbol of a popula show. On ABC in the US right now, they do the sae thing with the thumbprint, advetising the MOLE for this summer. 1 sec flash!

It works!

Because the falling glass will make this series seem different to all the others with just a spinning eye, which is more intriuging and enigmatic so then more people will be drawn in on launch night. That's my opinion anyway.

Yeah. I can imagine the masses tuning in and welcoming Big Brother back with opening arms on launch night because the logo falls like a pane of glass.

Lets just be thankfull you are not in advertising...you have no idea of what persuasive and influencial techniques work on a television audience. That 1 second clip could probably have the same effect as 10 second one.

Yes I do. But im not naive enough to think that an eye flash is going to bring back those 1.5m+ BB fans that dissapeared over the last 12 months. A lot of people wont even notice it. And if they do , their is NOTHING persuasive about a glass eye. Sorry , its cool and all , but its not going to perk peoples attention enough to draw them in in the manner that some people have described.

You're welcome for the caps

Don't particularly like these flashes - whilst the graphics are great, there is one major problem with them, and that is that it's not made clear they're advertising Big Brother.

However, I can't wait to see the rest of the campaign

That's a good point. As Charleystar said it makes the audience curiuous so they really take notice in the more infomative adverts to find out what these 1 second clips are all about and decide to check it out and watch.

Its a progressive ad. first people just see a flash andwonder what itis. Then they look for it. Then they make it longer, and longer, until, it becomes like a 30 second ad

So now the half second eyes are merely going to peak people curiosity? Id agree with you on that. But your view ten minuets ago was radically different.

The eye flash on its own wont bring in audiences though. Thats the point I was making to Tooperfect , or whatever his name is , in the first place. Still , according to you I know nothing and am arguing for the sake of it , so my point is invalid. Therefore , you should probably go and watch some eye flashes instead of wasting your time with me.

THis is a pretty common marketing strategy for anticipated shows in the US, right now they do it for the mole, with the thumbprint,I dont know if anyone is familiar with it!
