they gave Plan B's album 4 stars IIRC, yet so far this year it's been one of the most consistent albums in the top 10...they really need some new reviewers...

Music-wise their reviews are awful, I'm pretty sure they gave Miley Cyrus two five star reviews in the past.... Also only one sentence of that review is actually reviewing the song.

Quote:
Eminem didn't call his current album Recovery for nothing. After the relative floppage of last year's comeback LP, Relapse, the biggest-selling rapper of all time - 80m units shifted and counting, stats fans - was clearly desperate to regain his position at the top of the hip-hop tree (A woody perennial, we imagine, with Cristal for sap and leaves lacquered with 24 carat gold.)

To that end he assembled a battalion of trendy beatsmiths, lined up high-profile hooks-up with the likes of Pink and Lil Wayne, and, most significantly of all, rediscovered his ability to mix the controversial and the commercial. The latter is best exemplified by this latest single, on which Em welds brutal raps about his violently disfunctional relationship with ex-wife Kim to a catchy-as-crabs chorus crooned by the the most famous victim of domestic abuse in the world. Pretty sharp, huh? Well, as we said, he didn't call that album Recovery for nothing. Rating 4/5
Awful review, the rest is just about his last album basically.

DS gave Scouting For Girls album one star out of five.

...they gave Jedward's album two stars.

Eminem and Rihanna's 'Love The Way You Lie' remains at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for a fourth consecutive week.

The duet held off fierce competition from Taio Cruz's 'Dynamite' which climbs to number two and Taylor Swift, whose new single 'Mine' saw opening week sales of almost 300,000 landed at number three.

The sales tally for Swift amounts to just four days of downloads, after the track was rush-released following it's online leak the previous week.

Meanwhile, Katy Perry's 'California Gurls' slips to number four and new single 'Teenage Dream' falls from seven to nine.

Further down the chart, Linkin Park land at 35 with 'The Catalyst', while Sean Kingston and Nicki Minaj's 'Letting Go (Dutty Love)' enters at 46.

Jay Sean's new single '2012 (It Ain't The End)', which also features Minaj, debuts at number 50.

Rihanna leaps a massive 31 places from 99 to 68 with 'Rockstar 101', and The Script enter at 96 with 'The Man Who Can't Be Moved'.

The top ten singles in full (click where possible for our reviews):

1. (1) Eminem ft. Rihanna: 'Love The Way You Lie'
2. (3) Taio Cruz: 'Dynamite'
3. (-) Taylor Swift: 'Mine'
4. (2) Katy Perry: 'California Gurls'
5. (5) Enrigue Igelsias ft. Pitbull: 'I Like It'
6. (4) B.o.B ft. Eminem & Haley Williams: 'Airplanes'
7. (7) Mike Ponser: 'Cooler Than Me'
8. (9) Usher feat. Pitbull: 'DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love'(5) Travie McCoy ft. Bruno Mars: 'Billionaire'
9. (7) Katy Perry: 'Teenage Dream'
10. (11) Jason Derulo: 'Ridin' Solo'

AllMusic is pretty much the site for reviews. Their reviews really matter because most journalists go there for information and history of an artists work. Everyone wants to get a good AllMusic review.

Not many reviewers bother with single reviews though, especially if they've already spoken of the song in an album review.

Allmusic.com was my life during my teens, lol.

My personal favourite music reviewing publication is Wire Magazine. Pitchfork are alright, but they can be a bit pretentious. They're sort of like a slightly more grown-up NME.

I'm not keen on DS's music reviewers. But they're only playing to their audience so I can't hold it against them.

Got to say I hate Q Magazine's critics. I remember when they gave Oasis' Be Here Now and the RHCP's By the Way 5 stars.

They really slobbered over Coldplay in their heyday too.

Q Magazine's critics are hit and miss. Sometimes they're fiar but then they give solid pop albums a really a low rating and give average indie albums 5 stars so it makes me question them. Plus they are absolutely OBSESSED with Radiohead and Oasis, it's not even funny how much they bum them.

I'm not sure if she'll make it next week, but once the video and physical copies of Mine come out she'll definitely take it. She's smashing records all over the place.

She's the only female in like 10 years to have two consecutive singles debut in the Top 5 since Mariah Carey and Mine is also the fastest ever iTunes #1 in history, it hit the Top in only 5 hours.

I reckon she'll perform at the VMAs again this year too which will give her a sales surge.

And Kanye's performing.......would be awesome if she interrupted his performance and then they do a duet or something....

(still holding out for Eminem to perform, I imagine he will because of the amount he's nommed for)

To be honest I'm not really bothered about this year's show, I'll tune in for Kanye and if Taylor performs but the nominations this year are an absolute joke and the other performers are dull or **** imo.

I didn't really like the song, but I liked her performance last year going through the subway then onto the taxi.

oh I forgot P!nk is performing, I'll tune in for her too, don't know what the hell she'll perform though seeing as she's performed three years in a row, all promoting the same album and she has no single atm. Maybe she'll be joined by Em for Won't Back Down?

Florence + The Machine should be good too.
