I personally like the Guardian, Independent and New Statesman but dip into the PN just for a bit of LGBT gossip
I cannot stand the Guardian anymore, used to be my fave paper too. Independent is OK. New Statesman I really really like,. they seem to give fair representation to all views rather than censoring one side like the Guardian do. My personal fave at the moment is the Times though, and I never thought I would say that!

I get what you mean though..about directing people to news sources outside of the right wing press.

I feel a bit of rage everytime I see Penisnews mentioned. My comment was possibly unfair, sorry

I have just looked at the list of MPs who opposed Gay marriage.

176 opposed across all parties

Yet Ann is being crucified by so many supposedly open minded fair people

I am shocked.

That's fine Vicky, no offence taken at all.

I agree somewhat about the Guardian. I too dip into The Times and even the Financial Times and Economist. The Times has, of late, been much more middle of the road. As a staunch Remainer too I love it when The Times in particular points out the folly to it's mainly right wing readership.

Here we go again!

I have already acknowledged that there were many other MPs who opposed SSM but they're not in the BBH. Ann is! Hence us discussing HER and not the other 175.

There are 650 MPs in Parliament and only 176 (27%) opposed SSM. Not a huge number and many were old Tories who'd been in Parliament since 1066 - or so it seems!

But in none of my posts did I in any way mention or condone verbal abuse of Ann. I was merely discussing her bigotry and homophobia and terrible voting record on LGBT rights.

I don't take it personal either. I know this has been a heated debate but as I and I'm sure others are from the LGBT community themselves then naturally we'd be quite vociferous in defending our equal rights and pointing out those, like Ann as an MP, who have tried to deny us those rights. That's all.

I thought that the numbers involved made a valid point backed up by the statistics.

Yes, they lost, we know that

However, why is Ann being hounded as if it was all down to her.

It should come out, just as much as her political career has been discussed on here as well.

It is not hear we go again either, it is the first time, in my knowledge that these stats have been used on here.

Ann isn't being hounded on here, well not by me, but she is being singled out because of her prudish behaviour in the BBH. Even the HMs themselves have at one time or another complained about it.

She used a vote to nominate Andrew pointing out to the disgusting behaviour by Andrew and Shane when they were play-fighting. She then made comments to the effect that Andrew's relatives would have been shocked and disgusted at the play-fighting??? Why???

The only reason why is because Ann equated the play-fight as some Gay hanky panky which it was not!

We just seem to be going around in circles now so this will be my last comment about Ann made on this Forum thread to you. Sorry about that.

Thing is though, its Ann who is on BB. If any of the other MPs who voted against were on the show, I am sure they would also be being criticized for it.

That is fair enough although imo you should only be judged on the house but the op suggested Ann was been homophobic in the house which other's argued she wasnt then others brought up her past and then

Yes of course I understand this but felt if it was stated when she was getting all the blame leveled at her, a fairer comment should be Ann along with 175 other MPs voted to oppose Gay Marriage.

Her being on CBB has brought the subject up, so shouldn't it be fully disclosed that she wasn't alone in her views.

Why are you shocked. You are on a big brother forum where people, more often than not discuss big brother housemates.

I really dont understand how this is confusing so many.

Yeah I do see a lot of people saying they do not care what people do outside the house, they judge them on how they have been in the house. I am usually in that camp tbh. I vaguely remember when I was supporting Harry in one BB and people kept saying 'but he is a fox hunter' and such...but he had not killed any foxes inside the house so

With Ann though, she has spoke about her voting against equality inside the house so I can definitely see why its discussed. I think she explained herself pretty well though.

I think also,on CBB,some and at times most people, know the celebs.
So it's hard to disconnect from what is known as to them, unlike with civilian BB where we know little or nothing before they go in.

Such as Linda Nolan,I dreaded another Nolan in,I hadn't liked her before.
In the first week or so I quite liked her.
Then her true colours appeared, taking me back to my thinking on her before.

Jim Davidson, I hadn't liked much before he went in then as a housemate did and got behind him.
As I have Ann too.

I still don't care for her out the house,in it she's good viewing.
It is difficult to keep out your mind what is known about her though, especially when she chooses to reinforce it in the house.
That is Ann, how she is and some of it is blatant prejudice and religious, selective bigotry.

I name it penisnews tbh as it ignores lesbians completely. Then again so does stonewall and Ruth Hunt. Despite being a lesbian herself. Lesbianism is unacceptable in this day and age apparently.
Which reminds me why has no one picked up on Daniels remark "Fooking lesbians" IF Ann had said Fooking gays" this place would have gone into meltdown(but it would have been hilarious) This isn't aimed at you Vicky, you just reminded me.

Yeah, I was kind of expecting a thread on that if I am honest. Didn't particularly care enough to make one myself though

Ann is the topic of discussion as she is on big brother. The very purpose of this forum.

Another basic fact you're either not understanding or purposely ignoring.

I don’t think Ann has showed any hate or predjudice towards anyone because of their sexual preferences in the house.
She’s equally prudish with language, different topics of conversation, partying, staying up late etc.
