I'm having a bit of a My Life Story renaissance after hearing Sparkle on my Last FM account over the weekend. I'd forgotten how good these guys were.

Probably the best bad gig I've ever been to. They couldn't sell enough tickets for the big arena so they had to have it in the pub next door. This was around 96-97. It was tight to say the least. The sound packed up three times during the set so we ended up sharing a couple of spliffs with the band while they threatened to sue the gig organisers for the sound issues.

There was an article about that song and why Sting came to write it. It was after he had a split from someone, and it is quite a dark song of someone who will not accept that a relationship is over. The voice singing comes over as being a stalker.

The irony is according to that article is many do not realise that and have it at their weddings

I did not know the background of the song. I always liked it. (Poor newly wed couple. It's better they should never know.)

My late husband went to a school in Geateshead.
