Trump has also been given more chances than any other president. No other candidate would have ever survived mocking a disabled reporter like he did four years ago, no one would have remained president if the truth about their debt and endless corruption in their administration came to light like it did for Trump. No one would have managed to keep their presidency in the wake of the human rights abuse at the border.

As for the more votes thing, that's a combination of population growth and people thinking "god we need to get rid of Trump!" Having a divisive candidate makes people more likely to vote.
