I think they ae basing it on a bit more than that! His boorish behaviour for example.... OOOPS is boorish acceptable? Boor = coarse, awkward, rude person (From the Boers = Poor dutch farmers in South Africa origins of apartheid.)

Uh... no.

A redneck is a country lifestyle.

A bigot is someone who discriminates against others who are different whether it be race, nationality, religion, gender, etc.

I have friends from North Carolina and they are proud to call themselves rednecks! Rednecks to them is not an insult as most people over there use it to describe someone who is from the country.

However Bea admitted she didn't even know what the term 'redneck' meant, and it obviously was meant to be an insult so I would suggest she learns what words actually means in future before she uses them.

Also Marcus mentioned the word 'pikey' and that is a totally different thing to redneck.

That is the most uneducated and stupid comment I have ever read.

It is not racist whatsoever, Redneck isn't a race is it? and anyone who thinks it is, is a stupid fool.

It may be insulting, but it isn't serious, it was said out of context by Bea, so therefore it shouldn't be taken as a personal insult, like is someone called a woman a man, its not serious.

It's blatant snobbism. Words like 'redneck' and 'pikey' imply someone of a low class.
Just out of interest - where did you see Bea and Freddie proceeding to have a smug little laugh about Lisa's life and the fact that she in on bebefits. Was it on the HL show last night?

The stereotype doesn't mean that the have money because they work hard. Its about the fact that in times gone past Jewish people were the only money lenders as it wasn't allowed by Christians. Thats why they are portrayed as money seeking.

That comment is actually worse than the one you are appalled by.

Yep, and some black people like to call themselves the N word too, and rap about it.

You can defend it all you like, however the context of the manner Bea was using it was as if Isaac should be ashamed of himself and mocking him.

I'm not defending it, I'm explaining what the word acually means.

I also said however, that Bea obviously meant it as an insult, so wind your neck in will you?

If you would have read everything she said, she admits that Bea used the word as an insult to Isaac even if she wasn't sure what it meant.

And rappers using the N word is not the same as rednecks using the term "redneck." The word "redneck" was never used as a hate word like the N word was. Redneck describes a country lifestyle. The N word was used to degrade black people.

Found this on the net

"Their hair is generally worn in the mullet style, and they favor long sideburns. Personal hygiene is a lost concept with the stereotypical redneck, and what teeth they have left generally show the complete anthology of the stages of dental caries. Their favorite activities include hunting, shooting at road signs and lights, professional wrestling, NASCAR, monster truck rallies, car engine repair, collecting junked cars and large appliances on their lawns, having way too many children and dogs, participating in domestic disturbances, and waiting around for their welfare checks. Country and Southern Rock bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd figure in as their preferred genre of music."

Remind you of anyone? And wasn't it Marcus she was discussing the use of the term?

I hate to tell you that what you just posted is mostly bullshite. I would say that most of it would refer to what is known as a "hillbilly" or maybe even "white trash" more so than a "redneck." For example, people who have junk on their lawn would definitely be called "white trash" not redneck. The no teeth thing? That person would more likely be termed a hillbilly.

Sounds more like a 'hillbilly' to me.

Not what most people view a 'redneck' to be at all.

They can be 2 seperate statements, and not necessarily linked. Your assumption could be classed as a subconscious racist slur.

Given Bea's claim that she didn't know what it meant and that the term does not appear in my Chambers Dictionary, I looked on the net. Here is what I found:-

I get a lot of Jewish slurs against me even though I am not Jewish, but I do support Tottenham that is known as a jewish club (fans even call themselves the Yid Army). I asked if it was an innocent comment or not, the response seemed to be that it was not an innocent comment. So now I could be classed as being subconsciously racist because I questioned someone on a dodgy comment?
