Well they haven't been happy that they are negotiating with The Conservatives. Clegg is in a lose-lose situation

Cameron should now form a minority government because Clegg is nothing but a wheeler dealer with nothing to bring to the table - if he wants to throw his lot in with a discredited government who the people have firmly kicked into touch - he will damage his party's reputation for decades to come.

WE DO NOT NEED OR WANT YET ANOTHER UNELECTED LABOUR PRIME MINISTER THRUST UPON US! When will arrogant, desperate New Labour get that message?

Personally, I think Clegg is just trying to up the ante with Dave, making him concede more. Clegg knows full well that his party will be punished at the next election if he defects to Labour.

Choices:

Accept the Tory deal and govern with Cameron, or at very least agree not to oppose measures in the commons, ie not vote against the govt.

Reject the Tory deal and Cameron will form a minority government with another general election later this year

Accept the Labour deal (an unpopular loser party), still not have a majority and then have to share deal with at least two to three other VERY SMALL parties. Risk being punished at the ballot box for propping up an unwanted labour government.
