People can choose not to take part if they wish but they will automatically be out of the running. The housemates will have one minute to drink the entire smoothie, and the first five will be one step closer to becoming a housemate. Anyone who throws up during the task is out.

Then…
Immediately after the five people from each group have successfully passed their task they will each have their 1-2minute VTs shown to the public one-after-another (no breaks in between). Once the VT’s have finished, the public will then be given 10 minutes to vote for the housemate they want to see enter the house as a housemate. The two with the most votes will become genuine housemates.

However...
The public will not know which two have received the most votes until they step out of the famous blacked-out car and make their way into the house.

Phone lines for the previous group will still be open while the next task takes place. All groups have one minute to complete the task!

Group 1 – Jump in pool of fish guts and find a BB eye. There are five eyes in the pool; the public will then vote for which of the five winners they want to see become a housemate.
***
Group 2 – Must search through a pitch black room filled with horse manure to find an eye. They have one minute to find one of five eyes.
***
Group 3 – Must drink a smoothie made of animal guts. They must drink all of the contents to pass. If they throw up, they are disqualified. The first five to drink the entire contents are through.
***
Group 4 – Each person is attached to a rope in the wall. They must run forward and smash one of the glass cases to get the eye inside. However, the other end of the rope is attached to another person; most will not know who they are attached to. The two people connected together must battle it out to get an eye first.
***
Group 5 – Must put their face (and only their face) in a tank of worms. They must collect an eye from the bottom of the tank with their teeth. Once they have their eye, they must hold it in the air. The first five to hold up an eye are through.
***
Group 6 – Hopefuls will be seated on two separate spinning wheels (like playground roundabouts), they will be spin around for fifteen seconds before they can get off. The floor will be covered in slippery liquid and eyes will be randomly placed around the room – which contains a number of furniture and items. They must find an eye to go through.

Benefits of this launch night twist:
1. The public decide who they want to see enter the Big Brother house.
2. The BB team cannot be accused of entering people who are with an agency or have a connection to something in the public eye (glamour modelling, beauty pageants, etc.)
3. The BB team cannot be accused of trying to put in people they know will clash or form a romance, it will be back to the original series where the housemates are completely random and everyone will have to see what happens between them.
That sounds like the corniest, chessiest, most convoluted thing I have ever heard in my life.

'Look, kids! Some bimbos are running through horse shit. Big Bruva looks good this year, doesn't it! boy are my proud to be watching this'.

Also, why are people responding to this idea as if it were actually happening? It's just some fans idea. This isin't inside information.

Sounds absolutely terrible in my opinion. I usually look forward to Launch Night, but this just looks like a cheap way for BB to get some easy money before the show starts. I just want to watch the VTs and see what kind of reception each housemate gets. If I wanted to watch this I'd watch I'm a Celebrity or Fear Factor or something.

As previously mentioned, I don't think this could possibly happen due to time restrictions.
Think about it:

Introduction and tour of the house (even if done quickly) : 15 mins

Quick explanation of rules : 5 mins

If all tasks are done in a race-type way (and all goes smoothly) : 5 mins per group (6 x 5 = 30 mins)

That makes 50 mins so far (and there would have to be at least 2 ad breaks in this time, so call it 1 hr)

Then the VTs
1-2 mins each (let's call it 1.5 mins on average) : 1.5 x 5 = 7.5 mins per group. (6 groups = 45 mins)

So now we have 1 hr 45 mins

HMs have now got to enter the house. To save time lets say they go in pairs: 6 x 5 mins = 30 mins.

We are now running at 2 hrs and 15 mins. Even if we are generous and say there will only be 2 more ad breaks in the 2nd half of the show, we are looking at 2 hrs 25 mins.

Who's going to watch a launch show that lasts nearly 2 and half hours? Especially one like this which is so different to the usual format? What about the live audience - how are they going to be kept entertained, watered and organised for such a long time?

TV listings have Big Brother: The launch running from 2100 - 2235. This format simply cannot fit. And the same logic applies to most launch night twists involving 100 potential HMs.

It's much more likely that there will only be 25-30 potential HMs involved on launch night with nothing too extravagant deciding which HMs go in.

Perhaps the nearest to this scenario we could get would be:

Introduction/Explanation of the rules: 5 mins
Short VTs (no longer than a minute): 1 x 25 = 25 mins
Tour of new house while public vote: 15 mins
Winning HMs enter the house: 5 mins: 12 x 5 = 1 hr

Total time is 1 hr 45 mins. I know even this is too long and doesn't include ad breaks. I have rounded the numbers up, but even so, it just goes to show how even a simpler format would be hard to squeeze into this time slot.

Depending on your point of view, I would get too excited/dismayed about this launch night twist. If watching Big Brother all these years has taught us nothing else, its that twists are usually a 5-10 min tag-on to the show, with the full implications unfurling over the next couple of days. Anything else would be a logistical nightmare.
