He needed to get the trust back from the housemates, can you say you wouldnt use a little bit of information to gain their trust back?

It really is insignificant piece of info, and the reaction on the forum is very over the top.

If you were Mario, would you have let the others mistrust you, presumabley enough so it would take a while to earn that trust back, or would you share a trivial (and it really is trivial) bit of info and gain some of that trust back.

Leave Mario alone, he is sweet. I am sure that before the 'reveal', I heard two of the housemates discussing the chest of drawers and mentioned that it could be the tree. I for one hope the 'chest' carries on talking to the housemates. He could really mess with their heads. Some of them are paranoid already, it wouldn't take much to push them over the edge lol
