I did explain in a previous post, that my rant at 'awful Corin' wasn't about her, per se, but what she REPRESENTS. But I can see how it does look a bit contradictory at first glance.

Of course it is actions that make society wrong - but appearance is integrally linked to actions. People who look like Corin tend to act like Corin. A huge generalisation and, of course, not scientific, but unfortuantely, generally true. I have never met someone who looks like Corin, who I can have an intellectual conversation with.

I never instigated a 'ranking', I merely claim there are too many Corins in this world.

All muslims will bomb us
All 'hoodies' will mug us
All skinheads will attack us

Hmmmm I see your point - we must generalise by appearances and not judge on their individuality

It's the bigger picture I am trying to get at here.

But what worries me, is that there are now SO MANY Corins out there, people with depth, are becoming a significant minority.
Although you should take some of it with a pinch of salt I would highly recomend you watch Zeitgeist and then Zeitgeist Addendum. It talks about the increase in shallow role models and why people are effectively being encouraged to be like Corin. I think its very sad, I would love to see someone with some depth win Big Brother for once, and agree with all of what you have said about her.

I personally believe this movie is the one movie EVERYONE in the world should watch at least once and then make there own mind up about what they think. You sound like a smart guy so I think you might appreciate it even if you don't go along with all.

Here is the link to Zeitgeist the first movie on You Tube you need to click on the links shown on the video as there is a copyright song in the film. As you can see it has way over 1million views .

I think I warmed to Corin because she was one of the few people who really seemed to make an effort with Sunshine. I know she nominated her in the very first week, and I personally also found Sunshine irritating, but Corin would always include her in everything, and have long chats with her, whilst the other girls didn't seem to give her the time of day.
She always gave advice, and comfort to anyone who was feeling down, I even recall John James sobbing in her arms at one stage after a row with Josie!

I am aware of the stereotypes that can exist of people that look the way Corin does [shallow, bitchy, uncaring, selfish, jealous, etc.],however I don't think this is how Corin has portrayed herself.

She is obsessed about the way she looks, but she has said herself that she feels completely insecure without her makeup etc.
Whatever she feels about herself, she doesn't seem to place much importance or judgement on how anybody else in the house looks/dresses.[as some bitchy girls do]
She comes across as very down to earth and just judges others on how well she gets along with them.

I do feel that being accepted seems quite important to her[and probably to everyone to some extent], and whether that is why she has a look similar to countless others in the glossy mags, or whether she just simply is a fan of fashion and really likes that tanned, extensions "look" is unknown to me.
Either way, I don't actually think she looks that bad, and as she isn't displaying the bitchy/selfish characteristics that can be associated with the stereotype, then I don't see any harm in it really.

Corin is very unlike myself in appearance or "type" if you like. I mean I do like "girly" things like shoes and certain colours[see username :-) ] etc., but I have blonde hair that I just leave wavy instead of straightening, quite casual colourful clothes, and I never wear any makeup unless I was going to a club which is very rarely. Yet how she looks doesn't put me of her at all. 2 out of my group of friends are also big into their fake tan etc., but are some of the loveliest girls you could meet.

I like that she tries to get involved in the majority of things that are happening, and wants to spend more time having fun and trying to get along with people, than sitting bitching and moaning for the day. [The only bitch I liked was Ben because he made me laugh so much]

I also like the things that others seem to dislike her for, for example her competitiveness and determination in that task with Keeley, and also her very fiery temper.

Her phrases such as "I'm buzzin" etc. do really irritate me, but overall I see far more positive than negative in her.

I think she makes a strong conscious effort to try to enjoy life and be happy, and to not let others bring her down, and I don't think this makes her a fake person. If she IS upset/angry she still shows it.
Others in that house try their very best to make her "snap" and drag her down to their level. They hate the fact that not everyone is as bitchy and miserable as them, and will do anything to try and bring her to their level.

The relentless digs at her, have finally started getting to her the last few days. I felt sorry for her when she was in the bathroom with Mario, and she wouldn't let him hug her because she knew it would make her cry.
She choked back the tears as best she could, and again regained her composure and strength to go out face the rest of the house.

Sure she does have her flaws, but from what we've seen on BB and live feed, she comes across to me as a very warm, friendly, down to earth, amusing, and kind hearted person. I don't see the fakeness that others mention.

Yes, i really wish she didn't start with all that buzzin' crap, diary room buffoonery etc. In the long run, i'd think she'd have a lot better chance to win, without all her acting, because as you say - she probably does genuinely have a good heart, it's just all this other stuff she feels she needs to do to "spice" up her personality or whatever her motive is, it's totally unnecessary!

But, in the end, if that strategy does get her the win...i guess she's been successful in her goal.

You could call Corin a fake person, but then again everyone already has and everyone in the house has been labelled a faker or poser at some point. Corin has her good points and bad points like anyone else. I'm obsessed about the way I look and feel naked and insecure without makeup, too, just like Josie is about her weight and I think everyone is about something. I'm glad she doesn't care how others look - I'm always in makeup, with poker-straight hair and extensions and tight clothes, although nowadays I try to relax and spend days in my PJ's, but I wouldn't like to be branded shallow for it, so I don't even take that into consideration when talking about Corin. I can see how difficult it would be to give up makeup but I don't like the way she approached it (To be honest I don't care, it might be my last day and I'm not going round looking like s***.)
I wish she was still the same lovely down-to-earth advice-giving Corin at the start of it all, who looked after Laura and Caoimhe and Sunshine and Josie and most of the guys. Nowadays the things she says are quite spiky and bitchy, ("D***HEAD!" over and over, trying to railroad others into agreeing) or quite bittersweet ("Haha Mario, this game's turned you funny." when he was upset about being called fake)
I don't care about the way she look's - she's one in over 20,000 girls, including me, who have makeup and extensions. But I don't know how to feel about her herself. She's been quite bitchy in the DR before; and apart from occassionally losing it her "temper" is just unleashed in there. I've seen her flip out twice - at John James and at Sam - and that's how I know she isn't stupid and I hate the fake stupid thing she puts on!
This "buzzin" stuff is awful, she clearly was so excited once it slipped out and then became her trademark and along with "lovin' it!" she's going to overuse it for all it's worth. I hope they play "Do You Really Like It?" for her when she leaves - the "lovin it, lovin it, lovin it - is it is it wicked?" bit would be perfect for her.

I think she's stayed positive, entertaining and funny throughout Big Brother. That's all I ask for.

"Common"? "what is wrong with society nowadays"? Oh dear, go back to your Daily Mail ...

I don't know how too feel about Corin anymore tbh - I started off liking her, then reallyyy not liking her
I dont agree with using Corin as an example to society because there are a lot of girls like her - I mean I obsess over makeup and would get annyoed if my extensions were ruined - but there will always be different people and people who are deeper. I do hate how she puts on her accent and pretends to be "thick", that's not being herself. Sometimes I come away loving her, then she does something to go down again in my estimate!
I'd rather she stayed in than Dave.Dont get me started on dave :L

agree - I am not myself particularly a Corin fan although I dont feel she has any bad qualities - irritating yes but not bad. My objections are to the generalisation from the OP that girls who look like Corin are a 'type' and are the problem with society.

I certainly have not seen anything malicious about her, she is by no means a Grace from BB7. I was watching that, and there was a truly despicable character. I can see why people like her care free manner, etc.

To me though, she stinks of what is wrong with society nowadays. She is the epitome of commoness. I do not place much emphasis on judging a character by their appearance, but in her case, I make an exception. ANYONE who places so much emphasis on their make up and tries to look like eveyone else is shallow in my book and lacks individuality and depth of character. How many girls nowadays wear fake make up, have the same look as her. She really does look like so many other people out there and I find it depressing.

From analysing her character, there is just no depth. She has never interested me in interesting conversation or any emotions. It is obvious from her eye movements, she is not being genuine. She is aware of the gameshow and is repressing her natural personality. She also comes up with unintelligent and cleched phrases. 'You've only got two weeks, make the most of it'. I also find her mannerisms irritating and her incessant use of the word 'like'.

She is a person who is a typical BB character to win, such as the equally shallow Sophie last year. Very popular in society as she physically fits into it and is not overtly offensive to others. She also tailors her personality, as her looks, so she fits in. We need more intellectual free thinkers who can make a difference in the world, not shallow wannabes who cannot see any more depth passed their make up.

I am elated at the shifting odds. Mario, who does have more depth to him, is now drifting significantly. It looks like Sam, JJ1 and Steve are gonners. It's a fight with Dave - this would be a huge victory for people with personalities, as Dave is really hated on here and to defeat Corin, would show there is hope for the people in society who are on the periphery.

Just my thoughts....
nice try, but i was more impressed when you parted the red sea.
