No it's not rubbish. I can asure you that in spite of living in Lancashire for many years I still talk like Frank Skinner crossed with Adrian Chiles.

And here up in North Yorkshire there are so many different twangs, it can change from village to village.
My parents never lost their accent in all the years we lived in Africa but we kids all did. Within months of us moving back, years later, we were back to our original accents.

Dont know about her but my partners from glasgow and hes been in edinburgh for 15years and 14 with me when he talks he now sounds like hes in the middle his accent isnt as stronge, i notest it more when we go to glasgow his familys accent is way way stronger, and my auntie may has lived in glasgow for like 50 years you would never know she was from edinburgh she is brod glaswegon.

If i wasnt Yorkshire I would love to be Scottish ,i have been all over Europe and nowhere comes near to the Scottish Highlands

lol funny most people out of scotland i talk to would love to vist SL were as i have been no ware else i,d love to live some were else lol. My friends notest my partners accent more than me as ive lived with him for 14years and picked up a few words of his like i call kids wains (a glasgow word for wee ones) and one of my friends hates it big time but it just comes out with out me thinking, his accent to me is like livingstone or someware between ED+GG, maybe im the only one who notests lol
