I think a lot of us over here think that we have more regional variants of accents in Britain.

I can think of Mancunian, Scouse, Yorkshire, Brummie, Cockney, Cornish, Welsh, Aberdonian, Glaswegian and so on.

Can't think of as many American variations, but it might be that we aren't as used to them here so we don't notice the subtle differences.

I agree completely! .... I think!

I don't really think I have an accent, just normal English accent. The only accent in the Lincs/Peterborough area seems to be a habit of dropping "t"s, which I can't stand, and so make sure I don't do it!

Even down in the South-west there are more than one accents, Cornish, Devon, Plymothian, Bristolian, Somerset - the Somerset accent is the most "ooo aarrrr" i think
Dorset probably have there own one too but I wouldnt be able to recognise it unlike the others though.

Yeah i agree if we glaswegians went down to London of somewhere like that then i think they would think of us all as neds (chavs).

My fave accent is Irish-esp. Dublin i love that one. I'm also quite fond of the geordie accent.

my top 4 in order is

1.Irish
2.Scottish
3.Englad
4.Wales (sorry to all the welsh on the forum!)

I love a nice Scouse accent. I much prefer people to have accents than those with the non-specific voices where you dont know where they are from. Its part of our identity.

I love our Brummie accent.

I love the Scouse accent too. And the way Wlesh people speak is fab <3

I've got a big farmery Irish accent. Think Colin Farrel but less Dublinish and more farmerish.

I don't have a particular accent - a lot of people would assume I have a bit of a Geordie accent cos I'm from the North East but a few of my mates from the Midlands and down South haven't picked up on that as much as I thought they would do.

Glaswegian, but not so harsh. I get asked if I'm really from Glasgow a lot.
