But one thing isn't necessarrily related to the other. I believe most of people who don't like Big Brother would be against a ban.

People are against all political parties. As I said on another thread, voter apathy is a major problem.

Of course it won't happen. It's a story in a tory paper by the owner of channel 5 to increase interest in the show and antagonism against labour. It won't achieve much of either.

I don't agree.

We are in new territory. The Arab world has opened up to democracy.

Is it democratic to have 5% of the U.K own 90% of it's wealth?

People are living in apartments they can't afford.

Why?

Because Thatcher sold off *everything* in the 80's.

Now you have a situation, where;

A) One guy owns 100 houses.
B) 100 guys can't afford the extortionate rent **ONE** prick is charging.

Now do the math.

*WHEN* the 100 guys "kick off".

ALL HELL WILL BREAK LOOSE.

I'm deadly serious.

I'd like to believe that. But at heart Britain is conservative in its beliefs. As a society we cling to tradition, old out of date institutions and ideas. We don't like to challenge authority too much. It takes an attack on something beloved by everyone (i.e. the NHS) to get people up in arms. A show like Big Brother is either disliked or irrelevant to the vast majority in this country. They simply wouldn't care enough to complain.

And I don't believe there is any desire to ban Big Brother anyway. But I appreciate the good debate.

But those 100 guys will never kick off because the wealthy and powerful know that they can feed us a continuing torrent of titillation and gossip to distract us from their dealings. Football, TV, celebrities and all that nonsense exists to keep the budgie happy in its cage.

Go to school, get an education, get a decent job and get a mortgate. Or you can moan about the lack of social housing and threaten to kick off off about it because cheap housing is somehow your right.

(Get an education. Laugh my arse off.)

E=mc^2. e^(Pi*i)+1=0, m_0 = m*sqrt(1-(v^2)). All roots >2 have no solutions of a^2+b^2=C^2.

Errrrrr, Narr.

I don't think I will.

However, I believe you mean, "put blinkers on, have a nice life & ignore the fact we are abused"?

But you are more than happy to, (and since you insulted me first, I am within my rights to suggest it is *you* who needs education).

I already own a house I worked hard for. I don't own a pair of blinkers and I don't feel the world owes me a subsidised home. What's more I don't feel I want to subsidise other people's social housing through my taxes unless they are in need.

I understand the point Ed Milliband is making but I think it's the job of parents to teach their children, through their own example, that not everything is going to be handed to them on a plate.

However, I also think the Opposition should be spending their time debating with the Government on the problems faced by the country rather than trying to ban television entertainment that is enjoyed by people of all ages.

But they *ARE* kicking off my friend.

Look at the Arab spring in Syria, Morocco, Sudan, Lybia, Bahrain.

Now look (a few weeks later) to;

London, Wall street, Manchester, Birmingham.

People are *SICK* of the rich fleecing the poor.

Interesting.

I owned 3 houses, and got divorced. And was wiped out.

I have 4 kids, (who I aren't allowed to see, but expected to maintain)

I guarantee you, you did *NOT* work as hard as me.

Either way. It is nice that you (THINK YOU) own your own property.

But sadly, You are a minority.

There are THOUSANDS living in private rent.

Some quite wealthy, (Young) but the banks have gambled all their assets away so no mortgages are being given.

So yes (feel a snob if you wish) Trust me, it is only an illusion.

This system *NEEDS* reform.

And *YES*.

Housing is *EVERYONES* god given *RIGHT*.

What on this planet makes idiots (like some I could mention) think they are doing favours, by *ROBBING* the land, and then selling it back exuberantly?

Of *COURSE* people are going to "kick off".

That's what 2011 has been about.

Have you learned *nothing*?

(But I guess, when it's some Arab dictator who own's all the property & abusing the tenants of his land, [then that's a *different*] crime?)
