That's true. I think Amazon is the way to go then. I'm biased though since I like Rob C so much

I'm still on Amazon </3.
I need to sort it out and hurry up and get some seasons finished. Out of the series I have watched though I liked Australia the most (probably because I stan'd for the winner) |

The most popular modern newbie seasons are Philippines (S25) and Gabon (S17). Gabon is probably one of the best seasons ever IMO, it has everything you could ask for in a reality tv show and it has one of my favourite castaways of all time in it
Tocantins (S18) is straight after Gabon and I found that one quite good also, however it did fall a bit flat towards the middle of the season. This might be an unpopular opinion but another modernised newbie season I really enjoyed was Samoa (S19). A lot of people dislike it, mainly for Russel Hantz, but I found it quite gripping and entertaining, and I felt it was really good. And I don't know how modern you want it to be, but I'd say Panama: Exile Island (S12) would be a good choice too. It's all newbies, a new twist is brought into it, it has THE BEST tribe of all time in it (entertainment-wise, of course) and it has my favourite castaway of all time in it, who I'm hoping will return for another returnee season soon. It's definitely modern enough for you to watch but not too different from the roots of the show either. If you're fine watching this first then I'd watch in the order of S12, S17, S19, S25 in a row. S18 is good but personally I wouldn't be in a hurry to watch it ASAP.

I tried to get into it like 2 years ago & I just couldn't, it involved killing animals as well & was really gruesome

^ that's part and parcel of the show though, it is about surviving after all. I'm no massive animal lover and it's not lovely to watch but the show itself overshadows that
I'm more bothered about the camera shots they have of disgusting creatures tbh and snakes also...I have a fear of them so I can't be doing with seeing them/hearing them mentioned/them featuring in any incidents :/

they don't show that stuff as much in the later seasons. The latter seasons after 16 focus more on gameplay than anything. The survival aspect is huge in the earlier seasons, but shown less in latter seasons

The show is filmed with a manned camera right? So when it's tow people having a private conversation it's actually two people a camera man and maybe some producers and a sound crew.
Or is fixed/remote controlled cameras like I'm a celeb? |

I think it's with a camera man, who will ask questions to the castaways but they're not aloud to be asked anything or spoken to outside of the questions. I'm not sure whether the cameramen are hidden too.
