It has everything to do with xenophobia.

People aren't thinking "there aren't enough houses", they're thinking "there is too many migrants". Like, specifically migrants. They're not even pointing to overpopulation. Just migrants. Only non-natives are to blame for taking up the housing spaces. Stupid logic.

It is indeed,

It is easy to get at the refugees rather than really understand their fears and the danger they are in as to fleeing near certain death in their own homelands, then not want to really do something positive to help them.

A very sad position for the UK to be in for me, just even more to add more to my disillusionment as to the UK.

However seeing how this wretched govt treats its own sick and most vulnerable, then gets supported for doing so, well that doesn't bode well at all for people desperately fleeing for their lives from elsewhere.

The suggestions that we should open up church halls to house the refugees is an interesting one. Especially in the light of the number of homeless people we already have here, and have had for a long time. It makes me wonder why people haven't demanded this for our own homeless.

Because they are just useless addicts that should gerrajob... that's usually how it goes.
Why would anyone campaign to help the homeless? They are ignored, it's harder to ignore people washing up on beaches across Europe.
