Its not that these people have committed crimes. It's fairly evident that some of these other crimes are far WORSE than these UKIP allegations. What is important, though, is that while more serious, these actions don't have the same sorts of political implications as, for example, racially motivated violence and links to fascist organisations.

In other words, the heinous crimes listed for these other MPs speak volumes about their individual characters. Awful, awful people. But with the UKIP revelations, it's the fact that repeatedly, a very specific type of person with very specific prejudices and temperaments are drawn to that party like moths to a flame.

Now just to pre-emptively address some outrage: I'm not saying that ALL UKIP supporters are that sort of person. I'm just saying that that sort of person finds their political "home" with UKIP, and it would be a bare faced lie to pretend there isn't a reason for that.

Very good points being made here. Because none of us want to see ex criminals, paedophiles or sex offenders in office, none of us would deliberately vote in such a people. We will however, willingly and deliberately vote in homophobic, racist bigots.

Bloody hell theres a few people feeling a bit butthurt and getting very over defensive in here.
Pretty laughable really a group of bigots lauded for calling a spade a spade when its obvious they spend all their time trying to dodge being called out for what they really are.
I would never condemn anyone looking for an alternative to the plebfest of a goverment that we are currently suffering but UKIP have proved time and time again what they really are.

There will always be issues with MPs and prospective MPs in all Parties, just as there are in other walks of life too.

Obviously you are likely to then find more in Parties who are bigger and have a great many more MPs, although a few of the listed things are not by people convicted of any crimes, or are in fact even actual crimes anyway.

I don't really care about past convictions, as long as they've paid for their crimes and are trying to change their ways then I don't care about it.

It's the fact that UKIP is a gathering ground for loud rampaging bigots that's the bigger concern.

Its fairly common knowledge that white supremacists and former BNP voters feel at home in the Ukip stable. You don't need to read media reports to know that up until 2014 Farage was co president of EFD which also had representatives like 'True Finns' and 'Lega Nord'.

Again LT I'm not really on board with the "UKIP must be OK because everyone else is also crap" defense...

...the fact that other parties are just as bad or worse doesn't make them any less of what they are. It's a sad state of affairs that British politics essentially comes down to begrudgingly picking out what we consider to be the "best of a bad bunch".
