Plenty of intelligent, high-functioning, compassionate women, while welcoming the idea that people should be able to live how they choose and be happy, cannot accept that a transgender woman can ever be a "real" woman. It doesn't seem a widespread opinion at all. It will die out in 30 odd years or less (in this country). Similar to how homophobia and racism is slowly phasing out when young replaces old. People just don't think this way anymore. It's just a shame the country hasn't grown out of it sooner, because it's comments like the OP which causes very real issues towards the young and the in denial trans people of today.

It may not be a widespread topic of conversation in your world but it is in mine. And you saying "that's just the truth of it" does not make it true. What shines out clearly in your post for me is your usual blatant ageism. Saying all older people are bigots is like saying all young people are hoodies.
