Jess would be a woeful choice.

Keir or Angela are the best bets.

You do realise Labour were in power for quiet some time, politics goes in cycles, its just the Torys turn, give it another 5/10 years and the blue wall will turn red, that's how it goes, unless they change the system of course

I’d love either Rayner or Phillips, for more or less the same reason, Rayner is soft left and she just seems very likeable and can debate well. Phillips (I’ve met her and she’s brilliant) has such passion, and is a right character that the party needs, she also has that ‘backbone’ that people thought corbyn didn’t (which I don’t really agree with)

They’re both also not 100% remain or backed a 2nd reft that hard, which I feel is extremely important brexit hopefully will be a past subject by 2024 but will still feel very current, I’m saying this as a remainer myself but I feel like now we need to stick to leaving and go on with it, and get the best deal we possibly can (no deal is an absolute no however) that’s why I feel Starmer is a bad choice he’s very hard remain which won’t help at all.

...to be fair, Zizu...I would say that Marsh does ‘get it’...but getting it, doesn’t make it any less disrespectful, undermining or sexist to post females, based on how physically attractive you think they are...

I thought it was called having a sense of humour ?!

Have the rules changed now ??

I haven’t commented on their ‘political’ capabilities..

You think Tony Blair was fabulously popular solely because of his policies ?

Because that's what's important isn't it her dress sense?!!! .

Screw the policies and what the party stands for ,let's focus on their looks, voice & fashion instead.

Boris Johnson could literally walk the streets covered in poo and people would still smile & vote for him , there's no hope .

Please don’t despair ...

I was just trying to lighten up the situation but it seems to have done the opposite..

I shall do what Corbyn was to cowardly to do ...

I resign with immediate effect

I guess when it comes to who the next leader should be, they'd need to decide if people don't like Corbyn himself, or "Corbynomics". I

I'm gonna guess it's a bit of both, they should go for someone more along the lines of Blair (without the foreign policies, of course)

One of the problems Labour have got now, is that when you look at the electoral map, they won almost nothing outside of the English cities apart from South Wales. So they are picking their leader (and the MPs that have to support the leader) from people who will not necessarily be in touch with the views of people outside the metropolitan bubbles.

I couldn't give a name - someone like Caroline Flint analysed the reasons for the election result properly - but she lost her seat.

The two main reasons for the Labour result:
  • The mistake of the 2nd EU Referendum policy (and the perception of Labour blocking Brexit) which alienated the working-class leave vote.
  • Corbyn and Labour being too left-wing which put off the middle class vote.
So someone from the centre ground - not a Corbyn protege - that acknowledges the mistake on Brexit policy. Blair was hated by people on the left but he understood how the country changed during the 80s. He is the only Labour leader to actually win a general election since Harold Wilson.

The third thing for me is that Labour needs a leader that is credible in Scotland, and will take back votes off the SNP, because Corbyn was a disaster up here.

Dunno how she would do. I want a Labour leader to stick up for Scotland's place in the UK, and not splitting up Britain. Not like Corbyn coming here saying we're going to allow another independence referendum which just fuelled the SNP.

I know Jess Phillips was a big enthusiast for another EU ref, and I think one of the things the new Labour leader needs to do is acknowledge, or at least realise, that policy cost votes.

If Labour want to try and regain the leave vote in the next election, they need someone at the helm who was willing to respect the leave result, they won’t win if they throw a remainder to the top, that’s why I think Angela would be the perfect choice, she voted to remain, however she was willing to fight for the leave vote because that’s what her constituency wanted, they’ll never win if they don’t recognise the reasons they’ve lost the north and leave voters

One of Corbyn's problems was that he doesn't know the working class outside of London as much as he thinks he does. The same goes for Emily Thornberry, her repellent manner is partly from being in the Sneering London Liberal Elite.

It honestly doesn't matter. Nothing will stop the Tory cult now. We are an unofficial one party state.
