This was all because the Conservatives withdrew
their Bill.

But this is because
they heard the Labour Party
put pressure onto L. Hoyle.

There's no need at all for any problems or issues to arise on serious matters like international conflicts.

I say again, anything like this of international disputes, conflicts etc
Should be a freevote for ALL MPs.

On issues like this every MP should be able to vote according to their own conscience.
Not to the whims and orders of their Party leadership.

The Country is torn on this issue.
MPs of all Parties also are.

It was reported yesterday BY THE BBC Nick Watt, Newsnight's political editor,
wrote: "Senior Labour figures tell me @CommonsSpeaker was left in no doubt
that Labour would bring him down after the General Election unless he called
Labour’s Gaza amendment.

The message was: you will need our votes to be re-elected as Speaker after
election, with strong indications this would not be forthcoming if he failed to call
the Labour amendment."

I think a lot of nonsense is being thrown about.

This useless Speaker laid down his decision.
All Parties knew it well before the debate started .

Stephen Flynn was moaning from the SNP but stated he would be supporting Labours amendment and was pleased Labour had found a backbone.

However the debate was held, ALL Parties participated.
Knowing it was the SNPs motion with both the Labour and Con amendments likely voted on too.

In my view, the Cons realised, enough of their MPs would also with the SNP support the Labour amendment not the government amendment.

So seconds before the voting the Cons pulled out of the vote and debate

Frankly we had far more than 2 amendments from all Parties during Brexit.
So why should an issue of conflict internationally not be represented across all main Parties

However I still say
All should be freevotes on these matters.
Not Parties whipping MPs and trying to make them vote against their own conscience.

The SNP motion, wouldn't have got Con votes, it could have got anything around 70 Labour votes.
However would have been lost totally without the amendments.
The SNP would never have supported the Con amendment.

The government abandoned governing.
Because their amendment was going to be defeated.

The SNP motion with the Labour amendment was voted through
On a hollow victory.

Having said that, I'll lose no sleep if this Speaker has to go
I've never thought he's done a good job.
Relating to both sides of the house .

snp and the tories walked out, so it was hardly a democratic vote

It was all political show boating. The simple fact is that the uk parliament is as fractured as the relationship between israel and hamas, it's just that there were no guns in parliament

So far,
59 MP's
sign a no-confidence motion in the Hoyle.

That number is going up as they speak

The speaker based his decision on the threat and intimidation being made to labour mp's .... and we can't have our parliament give in to that. That is why he must go

Very worrying trend, think alot of MPs will step down due to the fear of violence against them and their families and who could blame them?

If only some political figure had warned the UK about this like 10 years ago...

I agree, no one could or should blame anyone concerned about fear of violence against them, standing down.

It's been a long ambition of mine to seek to be an MP.
However I am seriously thinking of, REALLY do I want to risk putting myself into that arena.

Politics has sunk further down the gutter than it's ever been in post war.
In recent times there's been the stabbing of Stephen Timms , the vicious brutal murder of Jo Cox, then the brutal murder of David Amess.

However there are really terrifying threats now being made against MPs of ALL Parties.
Plus not only against them but their families and friends too.

Politics is too divisive.
Not helped by the awful current leaders of all political Parties.
I cannot see any way currently around that very sadly and in fact worryingly.

The MP's say they are being threatened, but the language they choose to use against political opponents encourages it

I've never actually liked this Speaker. He seems arrogant and not remotely likeable.

You can be a great Speaker without being a big mouth bully.

I think he should go.
