we got one of those

Blooming criminal that new builds in Ireland are not allowed a chimney but I believe people get around it by putting in a pipe instead

When we lived in the Northeast, we chopped wood because we had a fireplace that had the pipes for the water boiler/baseboard heating running through it. So when we ran the fire, it helped to also offset the boiler and help keep everything nice and toasty and smelling like Maple...

Nothing like the cosiness of it or the lovely smell

Some of my favorite memories were tending the fire. My office setup was within walking distance as it was setup in a big room, so I would have a seat nearby and my cat was very comfortable laying on top of that to get as close to the heat as possible. She absolutely loved it. She was the runt of the litter under heaps of fur so after a bath she looked rather Egyptian. I miss her everyday but she did live a long time

If we have "fireplace" here, it's one of those fake "artistic" ones with a ceramic heater on the inside. Some homes do have them though, but they usually change them to inserts. We thought about putting a fire pit in our backyard, but it wouldn't be comfortable to use most of the time with our humidity.

Oh I like things cooler so am enjoying things more cool now.
I haven't had the heating on at all since March.

Probably sometime in October I will be using it again.
