Hm. Whether or not you have to be racist to vote for Trump this time around is a debatable subject I think. However... what really is not debateable at this point is, if you vote for Trump, you are voting against the very concept of democracy. His tactics over the last few months have made his intention to manipulate, cheat and erode democratic process so crystal clear that I don't buy that anyone voting for him doesn't realise that if he wins, he will spend the next 4 years doing more of the same, turning America's already-flimsy democracy into a complete pantomime.

The Democratic People's Republic of America.

This isn't a case of both sides being as bad as each other, there's one clear worse option here so I truly have no time for false centrism when the choice should be clear.
I'm not even a centrist, I'm a don't-care-ist we're living in clown world now, neither one is amazing so who cares? Bernie would take Trump to the cleaners, but the Dems signed away their chances by picking someone so bland and creepy.

Trump's stupidity and ineptitude is unintentionally funny, so there's a point for him; Biden winning would give actual comedians something else to joke about, so that'd be nice.

To say every single person who votes for Trump is a racist is just plain ridiculous.

There's a clear difference between the two and if you choose not to see that and pretend they are both the same, you are choosing to support the status quo and thus, you're choosing to support Trump.

Let's see how 'funny' you find Trump when he's utterly ****ing our country when we have to beg him for a deal after Brexit.

I couldn't care less. There is legitimately no other reason for people to vote for Trump other than that they feel his racism validates theirs', they see him as a champion for their bigotry.

In 2016, the disinformation train was in full swing but this time, the world knows what a Trump presidency is like so there's no excuse to vote for him now. He's a threat to democracy and the world at this point and he's proven himself to be dangerously incompetent and sociopathic on frequent basis.

Instead of defending people who would **** over the world just for the idea that they could be as racist as they want without repercussions, you should ask yourself why you're trying to paint yourself as a centrist when you defend one side a lot more than the other.

I've never voted, left or right (not that i could in the US). So it doesn't really make me anything according to US politics. I've never defended people who may vote for Trump or Biden, im merely stating that it's a ridiculous assumption to say every Trump voter is a 'racist' because it's simply not true.

You also say he's a threat to democracy, but the US is a voting democracy.

I have never, ever defended Trump, go through every single one of my posts, im actually against Trump. But to not let hatred and emotion get the better of me i see the bigger picture. Biden, like Trump is a creep, and his appointment of Harris was beyond stupid. Harris is bad news, a very narrow minded and 'out for ones own gain' type of person. Kinda reminds me of Trump!

You can fight fire with fire all you like, Biden chose fire, he chose what he thought would gain him the 'black vote'. It's backfiring and so it should.

You can carry on blaming 'centralism' as an excuse to be a closet right winger, but at the end of day both choices are awful, truly awful. Shout and swear all you like, but politics is the art of the possible. Play the game. Because that's all this is, two huge ego's battling one another. Who wins? WE DON'T DECIDE!

...I don’t think Biden is a great candidate but he’s the only choice there is to not have Trump...and although we in the U.K. have no choice because we have no vote...the leader of the USA has never had such direct importance...(...other than the obvious importance worldwide..)...because of the upcoming Brexit and trade and essential trade deals...Biden is an unknown, for sure...but Trump has shown his unpredictability and his potential for childish and ‘whim’ behaviour...

If i had a vote, if i HAD to vote it would go to Biden. The lesser of two evils if you will. Doesn't change the fact that not every Trump supporter is a racist. Good, honest people (who may be on the fence) have a real tough decision to make this time round. Both candidates are repulsive imo.

...Biden isn’t a great choice to be given for sure...but I can’t really think, ‘repulsive’, just because I haven’t seen repulsive, you know...whereas with Trump, well...I’ve seen with my eyes and with my ears and with my heart...a very dangerous man who would also put children in cages...for me personally, if I were a voter...?...my decision would be made in a split second and there would never be a thought of a ‘no vote’...not ever...

The video posted here a couple days ago of Biden all over young girls, sniffing them almost groping them was repulsive imo. Who will run the US better, Biden probably, so again the 'lesser of two evils/creeps'. But you say that about Trump, putting kids in jail, but so has Biden's VP. It's a shame, it really is because the most powerful country in the world has two men who are both as bad as each other imo. Terrible choices, creeps, and only out for their own gain.

I can understand the reluctance to vote, i really can.

...was it Trump’s son who labelled Biden as creepy and I can’t even with other descriptives used because certain labels only seem to be used and intimated on certain sites...the comments below the vid are pretty horrendous ...

We know that Biden won't destroy democracy even if people don't like him personally, Trump is destroying it and will destroy it further. If I was an american I wouldn't need to think about it, it would be Biden all the way

Trump isn't destroying democracy, he just isn't. He's having a tantrum and trying to stop (ish) the postal vote. If you think Trump, or anyone has the power to end democracy in the US then you're very much mistaken. That will never happen, no matter who is in power!

It's not defence of him, it's just fact.

you are completely wrong, he has been bypassing congress and has had the government protect his personal interests rather than those of the american people. There are countless examples of him subverting democracy

A voting democracy? Go for it, show me/us actual facts.

Trump is a moron, he looks out for his own interests, of course. But denting democracy, no. It'll never be allowed, never!

Even he's not that stupid. Putting a stop to postal votes is just him throwing his toys out of the pram, means nothing in the general scheme of things.

He's trying (hard) to throw up as many obstacles and disincentives as he can against voting in a country that already has relatively low voter turnout, and a seesawing two-party system that pivots around the 50% mark constantly.

Because there are only two parties, and because the margins are historically so close, any attempt to trip up the votes for your opponent when you are the one in power is a clear and very real threat to democracy. Not necessarily a permanent one - but there's always the risk of it setting a precedent if its allowed to happen.

Not voting is a vote for the status quo and also a disservice to those who have suffered and died to ensure your rights.

It's not a ridiculous notion at this point, the US people have no excuse, if they choose to vote Trump in this election then they are doing so because they enjoy his cruelty. This is a man who fought for children to be separated from their parents at the border despite being told that the US didn't have the resources to reunite them, this is a man that wanted to put money into sharpening spikes atop the fences on the border just for the idea of inflicting more pain upon people. He has been endlessly racist and it is the reason why his base is so loyal to him and why everyone else has ditched him over the years. His fanbase love him because he is 'hurting the right people' in their eyes.

He is a threat to democracy, if you knew anything about the current situation, you'd know that the republicans are basically letting the Russians wholesale interfere with the election because it benefits them and Trump is constantly trying to screw with the postal service because the less people that vote, the more chance he has of being re-elected and people will be less likely to vote in person with this Covid world we're living in. He also wants to undo term limits so he can serve until the end of his days. He is a threat to democracy because he is trying to undo everything democracy related that could lead to him losing the presidency. Honestly, if you're going to defend someone, which you are definitely doing here, at least be informed about them.

At this point it doesn't matter what Biden and Harris are doing because they simply cannot be worse than Trump. This election is not about voting for Biden, it's about voting Trump out so he can't do anymore damage. Realistically, a Biden/Harris administration is likely just going to fix all the damage that Trump has done, it'll right the boat and likely just float on by until his terms are done. I hate Biden but America (and us) need Trump out of the White House. He cannot have another term.

Honestly, if you think the two are in anyway comparable then you are engaging in wanton false equivalency in a way that can only benefit Trump. You don't think both sides are just as bad as each other, you're basically just running interference for Trump. One is a practiced politician who served as VP in an administration that had to right the boat after Bush, the other is worse than Bush in every way and will have untold consequences on the world if he is allowed to continue. You keep saying one thing but your words say another.

Google is your friend, there are plenty of articles from reputable news sources about his attempt to steal the election.
