Well yeah that's what I'm saying. The only reason people like VTS is because it "keeps in the big characters" when clearly it doesn't.

i think for the most part it does especially in the civilian series but the celebrities have prexisting fanbases

Well isn't that the point or do people join bb just to sit around and have cosy chats, sipping tea whilst knitting scarfs. Forgot why I stopped watching BB back in s3, it's because the viewing public haven't a clue what entertainment is but instead take it all too seriously.
