Strong, grounded, self-reliant - she is all of these, but I don't think that they are synonymous with arrogant - women are allowed to resist rather than rolling over when faced with oppression or sheer mean nastiness, you know - I don't know about you, but I am not a particular fan of 'humble' women - humility is far from the top of my list of desirable attributes for a 21st Century woman

The youngsters of today think that strong, self reliant and grounded women are something new. They have been around for ages, if you are in any doubt pick up the phone and press 'M' for mum. |

![]() (note to self - styles and fashions change - in ways of behaving as much as in styles of dressing ... the world gets better for women all the time ... not everyone has been following the developments ... only to be expected ... but young women are the ones with an investment in their own futures ... ) Last edited by Ultra Violet; 07-08-2012 at 06:59 PM. |

I think Deana does have a superiority complex with roots based in insecurity. She neither trusts nor likes men and would want total control in any relationship. She was brought up spoiled by her mum and it shows. I notice when she hugs the other two, she is not comfortable. Conor 's rant was indeed stupid, crude and over the top but he is in fact better educated than Deana and showed in the yes/no task that he is quite intelligent. A personal trainer requires third level qualifications, whilst Deana left school at 16. Conor should not be proud of his rant and has said he needs to think before he speaks.I have yet to hear Deana admit mistakes and even when Adam pulled her up over Luke S, she scowled and did not like it. Deana finds it hard to admit she is wrong.Thats where humility comes in. She is not always right and needs to admit that. A truly strong person would not need to build themselves up by demeaning others or acting in a mean spirited way. They don't get joy out of others misfortunes. They don't gloat but are gracious in victory or defeat.Deana does not know how to be gracious, Adam does. If she is this truly grounded, self reliant, independent woman why has she no practical life skills. She cant cook or even make her own bed. She is disorganized with her clothes and messy. You cant say your independent or strong, when you cant even make a bed.Deana to me is spoiled, stubborn, unable to empathize, entitled and bull headed. I think she must be very hard to live with. You can add her laziness and unwillingness to pitch in with the housework to that. Her good points are :she is very attractive and does not need the over abundance of makeup she wears, she is very stylish, has a quirky sense of humor and is intelligent. Oh believe me I could say someone is independent or strong regardless of their domestic skills - many Asian women spend their whole lives in the house and are doubtless very adept at bed making and clothes folding but could never be described as independent or strong - I am not a big fan of drudgery myself and live a lot of the time in some degree of chaos but have a first class degree from an older university and have travelled the world alone through revolutions and war zones (true) so I do not quite see the connection of strength and independence with homemaking skills (Can men be strong and independent without these skills? I imagine that those claiming that they can - especially in non-First World societies - would run into the billions ![]() |
