Yes! because thats the way I've like grown up and just known. I just wouldn't even contemplate having two types of carbs on the same plate, not even for health reasons just it wouldn't be right in my eyes.

Each to their own I say because growing up with a sister who almost died more than once with anorexia made me realise that being too obsessed with every single bite that enters your body can be as dangerous as going in the complete opposite direction.

very sorry to hear that when I was younger i went through a stage of not being able to eat properly due to the fear of choking and used to have panic attacks, I became very thin at one point, will hopefully never go back there

oh no doubt but being aware of what you eat, being healthy and having the recommended amount isn't the same as anorexia.
All about balance right, but indeed its a personal choice and it only really (to an extent) effects themselves and people have the right to do that.

Exactly. But it's when people become too into it, are taunted because of their weight, feel the need to impress others etc that it becomes a problem

Aw Josy I totally agree with you... theres far too much pressure nowadays to be thin! I'm hoping that since the success of our Olympians this year, more young people start to think that healthy and fit is cool, rather than just skinny and underfed.

Is your sister better now? One of my old friends nearly died from Anorexia when we were younger and although she is much better now.. she still has an obsession with food. She eats enough, but all she talks about is cooking... oh and excersice.

Its a tad ridiculous the lengths people will go to eat healthy. That isn't a diet, it sounds like an OCD

but it depends upon your view of what is right. Personally I don't think being skinny or fat is good. I believe and try to maintain a healthy weight and in honesty I think most real people prefer people of a healthy, physically fit size.
It is only the fashion industry which creates the ill image.
Most guys want muscles and most girls want curves in the right places. Eating disorders do not allow for either of those situations.

it isn't even a diet. I have literally just been raised on the fact that you dont put like 2 carbs on the plate. Also if you go to any decent (no not as in posh/expensive but not takeaway ish) restaurant they wont have a dish with two types of carbs on a plate. Except a roast maybe and then its only yorkshire pud. It is just the done thing in my whole life?

Yeah I agree with you. Its just a real shame when people feel pressured by others to look the best they can, and end up going to far. Too many people die due to anorexia because of bullying. If a person feels comfortable with his/herself, no matter the size, then it shouldn't be a problem.

A lot of the time eating disorders are focused around not eating enough though. In actual fact the majority of eating disorders that cause long term health problems are ones where people eat too much of a bad thing. It is just media hypnosis you've fallen under.

Don't just assume. I'm discussing undereating, overeating is somewhat different, which I have not touched upon as of yet.
