Aye Sunny.

The thing is, and I dont want to cause a riot, but surely her supporters should applaud her if she gets through this. I'd have so much more respect for her if she's a model prisoner, does her time and comes out a better person. All her fans want is for her to get away with it just cus they like her. How can they EVER call anyone immature.

I have to agree with G there..... if she does her time, without bother or malice then I will have much more respect for Paris.

I agree with you Girth. I to will have more respect for her if she goes, does her time, keeps her head down and comes out with the idea that she never wants to go back.

She might just learn something about real life and have more respect for those around her and realise that sometimes the law is bigger than she is.

It's pretty tough when someone "really" likes a celeb and refuses to see that it would actually be ok to say " well she did the crime" and that it wouldnt make them any less of a fan.

I think that calling anyone immature for having a different opinion is unfair and people on both sides of the fence need to realise this.

Difference of opinion doesnt always mean someone has to be wrong.

^^ Indeed. Wise words^^

People who have opposing views need to realise that other people may have a point and listen instead of resorting to profanity, insults and abuse.

Back to Paris, does anyone know if the verdict is to be appealed?

I would imagine an appeal will be lodged - with the kind of legal team she has I would be very surprised to hear otherwise.

And that's the thing. She will probably be granted bail pending the appeal and then win on appeal. She may end up having her sentence reduced to time served and not serve a single minute of extra jail time. But instead of researching this, some forum member just start swearing.

No offense Nick but you would have to have been living under a rock to not know who Paris is.
She is EVERYWHERE and I mean EVERYWHERE.
My senile grandpa who doesn't even own a tv knows who she is. [/quote]

You are right Kristen, it is strange!! I do feel like I am living under a rock, "where Paris is concerned!!" Most wouldn't admit it, but I don't mind saying it, whether people think I'm stupid or not....But as I am 39 years old and not paying too much attention to all the celebrities which are fairly recent, it is easy to hear a name like Paris Hilton again & again, but not really pay much attention.

If someone doesn't interest you at all, then it is easy to not even look.

It is like politicians.

I hear names, but if you asked me who did what and what their position is, I couldn't guarantee I'd know?

"Paris Hilton" is just a name to me, and nothing else!

But for her fans, they do have a right to support her and I do agree with that. Whether they are popular or not.

But if Paris Hilton is in jail, then there are many who do not like her and because of that. Enemies will condemn and Friends will support. That is usually the way.

Some do take their passions of a celebrity too far, sometimes, but it is easy to get carried away and then things can get all haywire

But respecting opinions is important and as this article says, is important to some Celebrities, who do think they are above the law and should be treated differently.

If Paris Hilton is in trouble today, then, she could become a better person in time to come. She could learn a big lesson from this, or she could come out with a real attitude. We shall have to watch and wait on that score.

To be a fan of Paris Hilton is okay

To expect the Celebrity that a fan supports to get away with a crime, is not okay

The fans will pick out the good points.

The non-fans will pick out the bad points.

That's debate!!! "friendly", we hope

Why the frick has Sophie been banned? I come on after a while to post here, and see this. From what I can see all she was doing was supporting Paris, which she always does, but obviously I know less than some other FMs, so I won’t say any more. But I am upset she’s been banned!

Anyway, I feel sorry for Paris in this situation – she could have done without this. It’s as if they’re trying to put across now that celebs don’t get any special treatment – who are they trying to kid? And anyway, we all know the media loves to hate Paris and Nicole. Although I’m not a fan of Paris myself, for me it is upsetting to see people have to suffer. But at the end of the day, if she has committed a crime then I think it will do her good to have to endure the consequences. However, I wish her the best of luck the following 45 days and I hope she comes out a stronger person.

I agree with you on the Paris front Ash, I was shocked when I heard that she was going to jail, but like you said, she committed a crime and broke parole.

On the Sophie front, I think she insulted a member, plus she did the same last night

She broke the rule by insulting another member and she was warned. The ban lasts 48 hours and then she will be able to return if she so wishes.

No problem Kristen

keep your passions and your heart in the right place!

Paris fans exist, and that is that. Even though, I am not a fan, as I don't pay attention to her.

I find Paris Hilton's attempt at carving out a musical career ludicrous, and I've never been a fan. As far as I know, she committed several crimes and was jailed, like any other person should be. The law may or may not have singled her out because she's famous, but I'd have been infuriated if she got away with drink driving, the number of people who get killed because of drunk drivers' is far too high.

OMG! I couldnt belive this when i saw it!
I'm really supprised they gave a jail sentence.... even though 45 days doesnt seem long.. im sure it is when your in prison. I hope she'll be able to cope.... and the other inmates will probably taunt and bully her so much. Poor Paris.

I really hope she manages it... and learns from this experience.

I couldn't believe it either.
I was almost as shocked as when I heard the news of Steve Irwin's and Anna-Nicole's deaths.

She did the crime now she has to do the time, perhaps jail will act as deterrent to her from doing anything as stupid as this ever again, if she just got a small punishment then she would proably think nothing of it and maybe do it again, it's not like it's the first time that she's done it.

There are a great deal of accidents caused by irresponsible people who drink and drive, for it to happen on more than one occassion is deserving of a jail term in my view.

Wow, that really is amazing. You don't care that she put other drivers life in danger by drunk driving, and because she's the 'dippy $lut from the tele' she should be free? Welcome to the real world, she got what she deserved, she got 45 days in prision, big wow... she's not been put on death row.

She got what she deserved and IMO doesn't deserve any support.

As Paris no1 fan, this does not make me happy.
BUT! I do hope that this 45 day sentence will teach her, and after its over, she can move on and hopefully never go back!

I do hope nothing bad happens to her in there, and I hope that she goes through it with her head held high!
