I watched Dr Strangelove the other day. Still a classic.

"Well, boys, I reckon this is it - nuclear combat toe to toe with the Rooskies!"

Also watched Alien vs Predator - not so good, pretty predictable really.

I watched Miss Congeniality 2 the other day. It was good - not as good as the first one, but it did have Enrique Murciano in it, who is very delicious!

I watched War of the Worlds last week.

Instantly forgettable, and 'Oy, Speilberg sometimes less is more!'

ROB's verdict:

It's Independence Day with Tripods, but without the real suspense, and even worse, without Will Smith!

I missed Scream as well. Luckily, however, I managed to record it, and will watch it tonight.

I was off work all last week, and so it was lots of late nights drinking and watching films. I saw a good few, although not all good. So here's Slarti's guide to whats hot and whats not this week!!

Meet the Fockers: below par not as good as original

Hitch: Actually quite a good movie, quite funny although the big man in it (kevin someone from King of Queens) was more impressive than Wil Smith.

Man on Fire: Denzel Washington does it again. great film but a little too long and slows down too much in parts

Constantine: solid sci-fi/horror stuff, if you like this kinda film, which I do, then it's worth a watch

The Machinist: dark and thought provoking, Bale is excellent. Watch it.

Batman Begins: Brilliant, tops the other batman films. Dark and character driven, again Bale is excellent.

Lost in Translation: understated and subtle peice of work. Great viewing although very little actually happens in the film. Worth a watch.

Have heard very bad reports on War of the Worlds. Fantastic Four is out soon and I'll be seeing it for one reason: jessica alba!

I'm glad you recommended The Machinist. I've been looking forward to this, but haven't known of anyone who has seen it. Christian Bale is superb in everything he does.

I watched the Machinist and new Batman on the same day, and the difference between him in the two films is amazing. He really bulked up for Batman, but in the Machinist he is so thin he looks really ill.

Watched Van Helsing last night on Sky, please do not waste 2 hours of your life watching this cliched, derivative and poorly acted peice of drivel!
