Apparently Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) is the fifth and maybe final single from Teenage Dream. I heard she was rereleasing the album soon but that must have been put on hold by the sounds of things. Always loved TGIF but can't see it doing as well as the other 4 singles, but saying that it could be another huge hit for her because E.T.'s success slightly surprised me.

Katy Perry's record label has yet to decide whether the popstar will release a sixth single from Teenage Dream.

The decision to release another single from the LP could see Perry gain a sixth number one from the same album and break a chart record set by Michael Jackson in 1987-88.

Perry recently matched the late King Of Pop's record by achieving her fifth number one single, 'Last Friday Night', from her second studio album Teenage Dream.

When contacted by Billboard, who asked whether another single release is planned, Capitol's Greg Thompson replied: "We want to savour five right now, but in the world of Katy, you never know."

It was recently reported that Perry's Teenage Dream has earned the star $50m (Ł30m) since its release last summer.

Perry previously thanked her fans for helping her equal Jackson's chart record. She tweeted: " I couldn't have done it with out ya, really I owe u guys BIG... so take this moment to give yourself a high FIVE!!! (sic)"

If she does release another single I hope it's Pearl.

Circle The Drain is the best song on the album besides E.T. but it wouldn't be radio friendly obviously.

Pearl I love that song, don't know how well it would do though, not as radio friendly as her previous five singles. Same with Circle the Drain, I love that one too but again not really radio friendly because of the explicit nature and "Wanna be your lover, not your friggin' mother" doesn't have the same ring to it.

I think her record label would prefer to re-release the album, I know she did a song with Dr. Luke a while back which was being considered as the lead single. I want "Not Like the Movies" or "The One That Got Away" as a single though.

Katy Perry has confirmed the title of her new single.

'The One That Got Away' marks the sixth cut from her Teenage Dream album, and is officially released later this year.

The release follows five US chart-topping releases from Perry's second LP, matching Michael Jackson's chart record set by his Thriller album in 1987-1988.

"Nothing ventured, nothing gained," EMI's EVP Greg Thompson said of the release to Billboard, adding: "If it goes to number one, that would be great. If not, we still have a Katy song on the radio in fourth quarter."

A "touch up" of the song will be released to radio by its original producer Dr Luke, while the label is said to be reading treatments for the accompanying music video.

Teenage Dream topped the US and UK charts last August, where it has sold 1.8 million copies in the States alone and remained in the top 40 since its release.

Perry's last single 'Last Friday Night' was voted 'Song of the Summer' by VH1.

Had a feeling she would release this, it's very radio friendly. Would be incredible if she managed to get another number one with this, she always gets amazing airplay so I could see it happening.

Producer Tricky Stewart, who worked with Perry on three Teenage Dream songs, is back at work with the California Gurl herself, prepping some music with the singer. “Katy and I went into [the studio] just to address some issues with records that we had done in the past that didn’t end up going on Teenage Dream,” he told MTV News. “So we are in the process of just listening and freshening up things and getting ready for something special she has going on.”

What is it that she is readying? Well, Stewart doesn’t exactly know, or maybe he just doesn’t want to say. “I don’t know what it is, but I know she has something going on because she wants to be in the studio,” he said. “So that’s good. … I can tell you that Katy likes the studio again; that’s always a good thing.”

While he couldn’t shed much light on the project itself, he did reveal the name of the song. “This song is really special. It’s called ‘Dressing Up,’ so it’s going to be a big record, I think,” he said. “It definitely fits. It’s right there in what her sensibilities are as a musician and a songwriter. She doesn’t change much. She has a very keen musical taste. It’ll be really good.”

The music they are working on is using some leftovers from their Teenage Dream sessions. And they hope to finally put that magic out into the world. “We always knew that the records we created were special [and] at the time it was more contractual obligation [that they didn't make the record],” he explained, noting all the success the singer has experienced with the record, which includes five #1 songs. “I can only have so many songs produced by me on the record. She didn’t need to have extra songs at the same time.”
