I think BB has actually gotten BETTER about its representation of gays and lesbians since then. There's nobody who gives gays a bad name like Marco did. Charlie, by comparison doesn't have a fake, overblown personality. He's a nice lad! (A bit dumb, but whatever.) Lisa is vile, but her villainy has nothing to do with her sexuality and she doesn't use it to irritate other housemates.
