It's all a bit insane, primarily because we don't have the infrastructure available for charging tens of millions of electric cars every day . Really if this is happening, it has to go hand-in-hand with the nationalisation of energy, and ensuring that vehicle charging is both available and affordable.

it just means that the 2nd hand car market will continue to rocket. Most cars these days can stay on the road for a long, long time. People just wont buy electric vehicles

Default General Election 2024 - 4th July!

Empty promises

I really don’t see why manifestos are considered to be quite so important given its all complete tosh and none of the parties ever follow through with their promises !!

I am absolutely certain that if Labour had been in control for the last 14 years with Covid and Brexit and all the fallout from them..

We would be in EXACTLY the same position now and all the parties would be promising the earth as they are now

For the lowest 95% of us all it doesn’t make diddly squat squared of a difference which party is in power and never has

manifestos have a legal standing. If the government passes a law detailed in the manifesto, the house of lords can't delay it or reject it

The Tories are quoting dates in 2029 for one of their tax cuts to kick in .. that’s fanciful at best and complete nonsense imho

tax thresholds aren't going to be changed, so as people get their inflation busting pay rises, they are going to pay more tax. That's all baked into the system. The government can be a lot more creative than simply raising tax % to haul in more taxes. It's all smoke and mirrors

On LBC AM

Remoaners are calling in angry at
the Labour Manifesto
that it states no joining the EU again.

Starmer has made this clear from months ago
he wants to get Elected

The Remoaners are crazy people

We all know that labour are fudging their figures, so they are going to have to come up with a new tax or blame the tories for us being in a bigger economic mess than they thought .... etc etc. One way or another, taxes will go up.

If they come up with a new tax they can say .... we didn't put up income tax, vat NI etc, although they would be breaking the spirit of their commitment, and I don't think that would sit well with the public

Apparently there are 18B of cuts due to come in that labour signed up to, part of that is associated with reducing prison staffing, so if that holds (as labour have committed to) who is going to staff the new prisons they will be building

These are issues that the tory party should be highlighting, i'm sure they can find at least 10 more that they could use to make labour uncomfortable, so the big question is, why aren't they doing it? It should be front page news

Interesting .....

Both labour and the tories are 3-4 points down on the latest polls

A YouGov survey of more than 2,200 adults, external, conducted between 12 and 13 June, puts Reform at one point ahead of the Tories for the first time on 19%.

However, this is just one poll. We have had four others published in the last 24 hours, none of which have had Reform ahead and not even all of which had the party gaining ground.

On average, Reform is still four or five points behind the Conservatives.

But this is still bad news for the Tories.

Only for the Tories who didn't take off their Tory hat and slap on their Reform cap yet.

Big brained labour supporters will tell you this is a good thing, actually.

Watching Starmer last night on the BBC, he hardly ever answers questions. He thinks we don't see it that he is avoiding the question but most of us do.

That said I understand they're only questions but what he does July 5th onward is what matters.

Yes I was not happy with Nick
giving Strarmer an easy ride.

Nothing New - Joey stated on the thread
he was right.

Nevertheless, it was more interesting than the stage debates ITV/SKY, etc...

Stamer just needs to get through the next 2 weeks and a few days and he is in Number 10. He doesn't need to chase after votes, he has them. He just needs to keep a calm head and not make any huge mistakes

…and that in itself is a huge worry and problem, I think and doesn’t inspire any confidence for a better government to have a leader who ‘didn’t have to try’…we want to see someone striving and fighting to lead as one first step…/…it’s not the only thing by far but it’s something we can’t attribute to him…I agree with much of what Slim says in that it’ll still be more or less a Conservative government under the sub heading of Labour …

It's what the Media wants unfortunately.

Anyone different to that just ends up getting targeted.

It's how it generally always is. The tory party have been in power too long, people need a change. We are so used to just getting on with things, that we forget just how bad it's been under the tories these last 5 years

Anytime anyone tries to come in promising big changes, they are rarely successful. The conditions are just not there to do anything radical at the moment and its not what people want.

Depending on the scale of the win/failure, i can see a huge shift coming that will come into play in 5 years time. That's when the real battle will be fought. It will all be about big shifts in political alignment. That's when the radical policies will come into play

Why does anyone care?

If black people don't want to vote in general, then that's their choice.
