I mean I get the whole ‘if we can take in and home people from a different country, why can’t we do that for our own’ argument… buuut I don’t think that homing refugees means that a homeless vet misses out lol. We haven’t helped them and we still won’t help them. Once someone in the uk becomes homeless, there is very little help and understanding there.

The misunderstanding is that homeless veterans are homeless because there's no home available for them. They're homeless because they've been left with their mental health in an abysmal state, serious trauma, often substance abuse issues, and those thing mean they can't manage a normal home (keeping up with rent, bills, just general upkeep of a home). Even with benefits, the system is totally flawed in that if you let things slip it all falls apart. In fact for most street-homeless, it's support that's lacking, not housing.
