If it was just for people I didn't know though, I think I'd press it twice. Only because I couldn't live with the thought that I killed one unlucky person, and one unlucky person only. But I think I'd probably be sick afterwards.

I'm sorry - but it would be a horrible world if we all thought like that! What about all those unfortunate children born into bad family situations whose own family don't care about them - where would they be without others to care about them. As a shrink you're supposed to have a natural empathy with others and an ability to feel their pain and be a rock of stability for them. How can you be there for them when you value your family and yourself more than others? That's what this thread is all about.

So you're saying that because I would take a 1/10,000 risk of somebody dying by me pressing a button ONCE, that I have ZERO empathy for anybody but myself and people I care about?
