![]() 'George Osborne could face an embarrassing defeat over the 'tampon tax' that MPs have branded sexist and wrong. At least 11 Tory MPs have joined a Labour bid - backed by a 250,000-strong petition - to wipe out the controversial 5% VAT rate on the 'luxury' goods. Whitehall officials insist the rules are locked down by the EU and can't be easily changed.
