Germany's Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere has given a few more details about the arrested suspect.

He is from Pakistan, arrived in Germany on 31 December last year and came to Berlin in February. He then attempted to bring relatives over to Germany.

His asylum claim has not yet been decided upon. His name appeared in some official databases, but not in anti-terror ones.

Mr de Maiziere also said the pistol apparently used to kill the man found dead in the passenger seat of the truck passenger has not yet been found.

A refugee living in makeshift accommodation in Berlin has said he is worried how the German people will view migrants in light of the lorry attack.

Special forces officers searched a hangar at the former Tempelhof airport, which is home to about 2,000 migrants, following the Monday's attack.

Ibrahim Sufi, a 26-year-old Syrian living at the airport, told Reuters: "We are of course worried.

"We are worried about how the German public will view us after this terrorist attack.

"My message to the Germans is: 'Don't suspect everybody, don't generalise.'"

This wasn't caused by refugee policies or open borders It was caused because the West just couldn't keep its fingers out of the pie.

We do not yet know the cause of this, we are still not 100% sure of the drivers identity and what the political motivation was. We know it was a deliberate attack, but we do not know why at this stage, all we have is speculation.

What is your solution to the problem, let everybody die in the sea, keep the refugees in lands where they are being bombed to oblivion with the full support of western governments? You think it's ok when the USA go in and murder innocent people, you say nothing about that, and when it creates a power vaccum and this happens, you still forget the responsibility our governments had in creating this.

How do you sleep at night ?

Send them to the first safe country where they are supposed to go. But it clearly isn't just safety they want is it? How convenient that few supporters of mass migration mention this.

Do you seriously expect this little island to take in everyone who wants to come here? I think you need a reality check!

Do you sleep ok when people have died at the hands of people who took advantage of our ridiculous open door policy?

You can take the moral high ground all you like but we are not responsible for providing for the whole world.
