As I'm going to Rome later in July on holiday.
So thanks to Sunak for the election in the first week

So I've now got to ease work out the way and concentrate on helping leafleting and canvassing for Labour over the coming weeks.
I'm expecting a horrible campaign.
I've had hard-line Con voters screaming at me and the team I was canvassing with, that all of us in Labour should all be put in baths of acid.
In previous elections.
Charming.

No doubt a lot of mudslinging too but all Parties are good at that.

I'm also pleased the UK election will be over before the new election of the USA President.
Oh well, here we go.

I know what I'll work hard for and know what I'm hoping for.

I will cheer from the rooftops IF this Sunak led Con Party is well and truly booted out of government, AT LAST.

Some people take their Politics way too seriously imo.

Who threatens that over someone supporting a Political Party? Especially a party that has moderate views.

I wouldn't agree with it, but if you were supporting Reform, UKIP, or some far left Party that might be running around, then I might understand it more because of the possibly extreme and vile views that can be held within far right and far left ideologies.

But some people would want to physically harm you for supporting Labour? That shows that those people are really far gone imo.

It's actually fun most of the time.
Even odd times we've been out leafleting then come across Con workers leafleting too in the same streets.
Once all done we've gone for a coffee together.
Most of us are reasonable and not getting the vile nonsense I mentioned earlier.

Sadly though we do now have to be careful.
All Parties but particularly Con and Labour.
Because of worries of things getting more hostile and even possibly dangerous.
We always work in teams now for safety.

It's great however when you get someone who wants to talk with you and engage with you too.
Doesn't matter who they're supporting either.
Plus it gets you out in the fresh air and good exercise too.

I head out with plenty mars bars because there's not much chance to eat really until night time when you stop for the day.

The Cons would never re-nationalise Railways as Labour plan to.

Labours ambitious Housing policy is nothing like the Cons.
Who've done next to nothing as to affordable housing rented or otherwise in 14 years.

The wasted cost of the detestable Rwanda plan will be halted by Labour with more concentration on the operators of those boats.

The NHS not now just on its knees after 14 years of Con government, but actually flat on its back.
Labour has plans to begin to help it recover.
It will need reform of course too.

A public owned green energy company wouldn't be even thought of from the Cons.
Which Labour will create.

Restoring back some workers rights which should never have been taken away.

Much more Id love to see from Labour but none of those things will come from the Cons and haven't in 14 YEARS.

Much as I like to agree with you Joey I am going to wait the manifestos because for me now its very difficult to know where to vote, I have never voted Tory and have in the past voted Labour but last few times couldnt vote them either so honestly no clue who will get my vote this time maybe Indy even though its wasted but at least its a vote

Where you cast it is for you to decide who will deliver most or some of what you'd want or believe to be better than has been.

I'm overjoyed that you intend to use your vote.
For whoever.
It's why I support PR to help people feel more that their votes aren't wasted whoever they vote for.

It's kind of music to my ears to read you've never voted Tory.
Not everything the Cons do is wrong though.
I just feel they haven't the compromise or compassion that I would like to see at this time in policy making

If those things do come to pass then that will be fantastic, Joey.

For me, I just think that we need to take the gamble, we can't afford to have 4-5 more years of what has been an atrocious Government.

If Labour/Starmer are somehow even worse, then get rid of them at the next Election, but we need to at least try is my viewpoint, because we already know that the current Tory generation are terrible, where as we don't actually know what the current Labour Party would be like, and that to me is a huge selling point for Labour.

There just comes a point where people want change, and it really doesn't matter how good or bad the current government are. It was true when Tony Blair was elected and it was true when Cameron got elected.

Personally, i think we should force rotate the government every 4 years so that no one party stays in power too long. Even 2 terms max would work

The same should really apply to mayors too

Except that would remove the will of the voters.

If voters wanted a government or coalition in power for years and years or even a decade plus.
You couldn't in a democracy take away the choice of the voters as to that.

Mayors however, yes possibly to that.
