Who says Holla these days with a straight face?
I think at the end of the day, if two people are of a legal age and consenting then why not? Surely the only prerequisite marriage needs is love? Not that the participating parties have to be of certain genders. I think nowadays religion just doesn't play a HUGE part in marriage, most people who have been married in a church I know aren't hugely religious, it's just seen as traditional yet they are allowed to get married in religious houses why not two men? or Two women? |

And is the whole point of even bothering to argue about the tradition and integrity of marriage anyway instantly destroyable due to the very prescence of a little concept known as DIVORCE?
And get this, by current law, a gay Rev. can marry a straight couple. But a gay couple cant marry? WTF? Time paradox, fo' sho'. Oh yeah, on a random note - you should all go and watch Milk. Sean Penn deserved that damn Oscar. |

Well based on the fact homosexuality is percieved to be a sin amongst many religions, it would follow suit that a same sex marriage couple should not be able to marry....

I'm for it, but it shouldn't be called ''marriage'', be conducted by a priest, or take place in a church.

How about every couple regardless of sexual orientation/gender gets a civil marriage (for legal purposes) and if you want you can get religiously married (which would have no legal significance but the two can be performed simultaneously)? That seems like the only fair way.

I wouldn't argue with the way things are now - in the uk at least. My understanding is that civil partnerships provides same sex couples with equal right to hetrosexual couples when it comes to the legal benefits or marriage.

In the last 10 years gay rights have come a long way with the age of consent being levelled at 16 to Civil Partnerships giving us equal rights to married couples.
I feel like this is in credit to the current Labour government and it saddens me when it is criticised so heavily as it has been in recent years due to things like how badly people think it is handling the recession. I'm worried for the future in case the Conservatives or any other party neglect gay rights as it is still very much a continuous cause and equality has by no means been reached yet. Anyway, bit off topic lol... I would love to see the day when gay marriage is legalised, hopefully it won't be a day too far in the future. |
