BREAKING NEWS: Pavel Nedved Confirms Retirement From Football

Former Juventus, Lazio, Sparta Prague and Dukla Prague midfielder Pavel Nedved has confirmed his retirement from the game.

Having reflected upon a number of offers from various clubs around the world, he has decided he will no longer play football.

A statement on his official website reads:

"Statement by Pavel Nedved to end an active career as a player.

"I have decided not to accept any of the offers I received in recent weeks, and finally end my career. I will now dedicate my time to my family, wife, and children.

"I would like to thank the fans for all the support they showed me throughout my career."

Nedved spent 13 years in Serie A. He joined Lazio in 1996. He won the Coppa Italia with the Aquilotti in 1998 and in 2000.

He also lifted the 1999/00 Scudetto, the 1999 Cup Winners Cup, the 1999 Super Cup and the Super Coppa Italiana in 1998 and in 2000.

He joined Juventus in 2001 to replace the legendary Zinedine Zidane who left for Real Madrid.

Nedved won Serie A in 2002 and 2003, as well as the Super Coppa Italiana in the same years with the Old Lady. He also won the Ballon D'Or in 2003.
