I don’t get why Ariana Grande has so many fans But good for her Fans for getting another one of her songs to #1 I guess, seems to have a great track record the past 1.5 years of getting her songs to #1

Would be interesting to see if it would have Even got top 10 without her!

Not Rockstar being dethroned in the UK.

Debuting #1 on Billboard USA has been strangely very common recently too. Seems like you just need an established fanbase.

The last year though a few #1s have dropped badly and had little longevity. Funnily enough, Blinding Lights, a track which took months to finally get to #1 has probably been the most stable hit this year alongside The Box.

The increase of steaming has made it more easier, but I guess it’s just changing times doesn't take away the achievement.

A few years ago I believe it was only Mariah and Britney who’ve done it more then once, Drake, Justin and Ariana have joined that, soon Gaga, with Ariana leading with three or four number one debuts?

I dont even understand how the charts work anymore.. a song can sell like 500 copies and get to #1 and another sell 50,000 copies and be #17

Blinding Lights is a fabulous track .. it features very heavily on TicToc !!

Open TicToc and search for Blinding Lights then plough through all the clips ..

Yeah it’s to do with how much they weight each sale, stream etc. I’m not sure of the number specifics but I know they’re all weighted differently.

I think the reason for a lot of high debuts is a lot of artists are doing merch bundles now to try and snatch #1 first week because it’s even harder to score a number one now in the streaming age than before

150 premium streams (I.e paid on Apple Music or Spotify) is a sale, 300 free streams (YT or Spotify Free) also counts as one sale. But that’s only for the first ten weeks and after that the streaming ratio doubles so 300 premium streams is a sale and 600 free streams is a sale
