Yeah. The weather official bloke just speaking said theres been NO earthquake but there may have been a landslide

I really want to see footage of a tsunami beginning (from the perspective of being on land), I saw something that almost detailed what I want to see from the 2004 tsunami... basically just want to see the tide going out far and then coming back in, it's fascinating.

I seen that on a documenary about that tsunami, what I dont get though is why all those people walk right away out on the beach to watch, I would get the hell out of there fast not walk towards it.

That's how I saw it.. like, regardless of the fact it was all over the news as this devastating thing, all the clips I watched, including the one Ben linked to, just look like regular waves to me until they suddenly keep going, and even then don't seem all that devastating. It's weird, I obviously know it's a tsunami and it's scary, it just doesn't seem all that real until you see videos like the one from Japan of the ships being thrown into that bridge.

It's true though. You half expect to see a few surfers in there. It's only when they keep going.... and going...... you think - Sh!t

I know... It's just not all that obvious, IMO. I've been reading about plate tectonics etc today, it's mental..

Most tsunami's will break off shore though and become a mass wall of water. It very rarely will reach land as a complete wave with a crest.
