Build up their own ego while pushing somebody else down. I've come across so many like that, it's mostly done by people who haven't got very far in life and are bitter when they see others achieve something.

Well you're certainly giving him a lot more prominence over the other 21 housemates, including the winner.

Something tells me that wouldn't be the case if he wasn't a member.

Because the winners are clearly always the best and most memorable housemates. Anything other than 1st place is EMBARRASSING.
