science is a conversation and if there is a good explanation for the continued rise in CO2 despite huge change by the world population then lets hear it

i agree that science should be constantly challenged, thats the only way we advance, but i wouldn't then prejudice the outcome of that challenge with simplistic observations

you will note the large flaw in their argument. They had to say last year, not this year

The Met Office cannot genuinely generally forecast for the UK beyond 4 days with any accuracy. They have zero clue about this Autumn or winter

Why isn't there more detail in the long range forecast?

Ever wondered why our forecasts for 5 days and beyond are written on the
scale of the UK as a whole? When looking at forecasts beyond five days into
the future the chaotic nature of the atmosphere starts to come into play -
small events currently over the Atlantic can have potentially significant
impacts on our weather in the UK in several days' time. Therefore whilst we
can still forecast the general feel of the weather to a relatively high level of
accuracy using our ensemble models, it becomes harder to offer local detail
to as high a level of accuracy as our shorter range forecasts. For this reason
our text forecasts for 5 days and beyond are written on the scale of the UK as
a whole.

----

but let us tell you about 2060 - absolute racket

Would you say this is blatant fearmongering ?

various examples of President Abdulla Al Mandous Head of World Meteorological Organization (and a politician) rhetoric from yesterday

The era of global warming has ended and “the era of global boiling has arrived”,

“Climate change is here. It is terrifying. And it is just the beginning,”

Global temperatures this month have shattered records

stoked by the burning of fossil fuels and spurring violent weather.

“Humanity is in the hot seat,”

For the entire planet, it is a disaster. And for scientists, it is unequivocal – humans are to blame.

“The air is unbreathable, the heat is unbearable,

Temperatures this month had been “so outrageous”

I have to say it's very warm here up North, lad.

It has to be, wow, about 16c degrees. Much warmer than the 13c degrees yesterday.

LT just out of curiosity, why did you choose to shun your profession after getting your meteorology degree and research masters in favour of selling mouldy old pots? I know people do things for all sorts of reasons, but you still seem so invested, it makes me wonder why you went a different direction.

I ran a Met Office climate station for 15 years (and associated weather website) and worked for Meteo Consult for a time and i have been a member of the Climatological Observers Link for many years. I have kept a weather diary since I was 10 and am active in several weather forums. Its a lifelong interest.

I have never sold a mouldy pot in my life

"The Climatological Observers Link (COL) [1] [2] was founded in 1970 by a small group of amateur meteorologists following the exchange of correspondence in the magazine Weather - published by The Royal Meteorological Society. It is the largest enthusiasts' weather observer network within the United Kingdom."

Oh I see.

Oh I see.
Best to go to the actual website of COL rather than wiki

COL stands for Climatological Observers Link, an organisation of people who
are interested in the weather.

Its members are mainly amateur meteorologists, but many professionals and
observers from schools, universities and research establishments also belong
to COL.
