filling in an application form for debenhams, but what does this mean?

Retail is an ever- changing environment. As a Sales Adviser, what may cause your priorities to change and how would you react?

Is it talking about my priorities in the job or personal life?

..Saph..I would say that because of the changing environment of retail i.e. the internet mainly.. that for shops to compete, they will have to maybe offer ‘something extra’...and Sales Assistants would be more like consultants or advisors on products or any queries that customers may have..which would also include complaints etc and handling them well for the customer and so they are reasonably happy..and that it's not just about taking money behind the counter, sort of thing...because on the internet for instance, it can be really frustrating when you buy something and aren’t happy with it and takes a long time of endless hours on the phone to sort it out sometimes....

I think what they're looking for is for you to demonstrate you can prioritise your own work rather than have a supervisor guide you. If you've got a customer standing at the pay point and a supplier calls you on the phone, you're going to deal with the customer first... or a colleague comes to check something with you and a customer wants to ask you a question about a product, you're going to ask your colleague to wait while you deal with the customer... always make the customer's satisfaction your focus. I think that's probably what they want to hear
