...and what they've done wrong (which is quite a fair bit). I've been meaning to make a thread on this a few days.
I'll first start by commending them at least for trying something different, I'd rather this than another one of their 'let's shove an earpiece in the token fat housemates ear and make them ask to see another housemate's cock'. Whilst I believe it's copied from an international version of Big Brother, it is at least very different from the kind of thing they'd usually do, so for that I was initially pretty impressed. But they have totally gone the wrong way about it and it has really pissed me off this week. They started off fine (although the suitcase thing was pretty unbelievable really) but they have just shoved him in the other housemates faces too much. What ruined it really was their obsession with letting the other housemates watch him in the diary room...now while that's all very good at stirring stuff up, they have drawn far too much attention to him and made it so obvious. Why they couldn't have just let him take a bit of a backseat I don't know. He's not actually done that bad a job and he has deflected quite a few things this week pretty well until the shoddy production team behind this have only gone and ruined it for him, and that brings me on to the worst part of this all... If this twist ends on Friday, then what. the. ****. was the point in it? Seriously? They promoted the hell out of '#whatsthesecret' and whilst I know they'll be other secrets and lies twists (and hope there is too), this is the main one and for them to make such a big deal out of it and then end it this early would be a ****ing joke and just another one of their ****ty little twists that ends after a week, what is their problem with being committed to something and actually pulling it off properly? If it ends on Friday barely any of them are going to be surprised and what do they expect when they've royally ****ed things up this week? It'll be just another one of the standard calling Michael to the diary room, he goes on the plasma and then 'Michael...as you know, you are not a postman, you are an actor...etc etc'...BORING. Their reactions will be 'haha I knew it'. YAWN. How about letting him actually settle in, keeping the Head Housemate title going and giving it to someone else every week for the next few weeks (so he's no longer centre stage) and let him control things in a more discrete manner. We should be getting options like telling him which housemate's stuff to steal and who else to plant it on (i.e. steal Gina's stuff and plant it on Sallie), that'd be much better and a few weeks down the line I don't think they'd suspect him. If they let him become part of the group and stop drawing attention to him their suspicions may fade away. He doesn't have to take over the show either so I'm not buying that argument from some people, there's been plenty of other action this week so it's been a fair balance and that could continue if he stayed. He should stay till around week 8, and then this is how he should be revealed: Just a bit of context...C4 trained a load of people to become astronauts and they believed they actually flew into space but really they were just in a simulator and it was one big hoax and it was kind of like Big Brother in a way, and this is how they revealed it at the end to them. So in Michael's case, after 8 weeks or so you gather everyone round, call Michael to the diary room and play them a VT of all the instances over the series when the housemates have talked about their being a mole, people being actors (if other housemates names apart from Michael are used include those clips too) etc etc and then at the end play them the creepy VT we got of actor Michael on launch night, all the different tasks he's been asked to do in the diary room, times he's appeared on BOTS, the interviews he did before going in...all that kind of stuff. And THEN watch their reaction when he's become part of the group, formed bonds and friendships with them (tbh he should try and become really close with some of them and then break their hearts when he reveals he's an actor...now THAT is evil Big Brother, not the CBBC version we've had the last few years). You could even have a twist where they announce there's been an actor living amongst them and housemates have to take a vote each on who the actor is and if they get it right the prize fund is doubled, get it wrong and it's halved or something along those lines, idk...just be inventive. Making it this blatantly obvious and putting so much attention on him this week only to then end it before it's even got going and we've had a chance to see numerous evicted housemate's reactions when they come out and find the truth is going to be so laughably pathetic I can't even put it into words. It won't be exciting, it'll go out with a whimper because 90% of them suspect it anyway. Let him settle in, fade into the background, form bonds and THEN reveal him two months in. Not now. Otherwise the producers of this show really are just useless, incompetent and uninventive. |

Nice post, I enjoyed reading it.
I agree about commending them for trying it, and for a few days it worked well, but yea with the focus on him all the time, it was inevitable he would be suspected as some type of mole/actor and I feel that the production team might have never thought this would happen, as they don't seem to have a contingency plan now that there are open conversations about him being one. Him getting over the top angry and not sticking it out and refuting allegations has only heightened their suspicions, and he is now left with only outsiders like Wolfy & Dex vouching for him. His story could be continued as you say, by letting him fade from the limelight and still work for us sabotaging stuff for the laugh. But on the other side, he has served his purpose, he's provided a lot of entertainment. And in a way I'm looking forward to seeing what the house is like with him gone. |

In all honesty I don't think it'll be much different with him gone (other than the paranoia dropping...but that really isn't a good thing, if he stayed at least they'd still be paranoid and the suspicions may move to someone else if anything).
With him staying they could have also tried stuff like bringing someone else in on it perhaps for a cash reward, flying a plane over saying someone else is the mole (as Vicky suggested), doing what a BOTS audience member said and saying he was on an acting task this week but it's over now and he can be himself (when obviously he won't and can still act and do other stuff throughout the series). Ending it after one week when they promoted the hell out of it, ruined it themselves by making it so bloody obvious, have plenty of other directions they could take with it and it is the one and only opportunity they're going to get to pull off a twist like this properly is just a joke to be honest, it's like they can't commit to something and pull it off decently. It's just shoddy production all round. Last edited by Jack_; 20-06-2013 at 12:52 AM. |

It would of been good if they aloud Michael to blend in with the other housemates and do secret tasks the public set eg cut up sallies cloths, ruin the food, sabotage the task. While still remaining under the radar every week in the shopping task there would be a riddle that leads housemates closer to the mole/secret rooms. The housemates should be told if they find out the mole is Michael and he gets nominated by everyone then he is evicted but if he reaches week 7/6 then he leaves with the prize fund.

The twist sucks and Michael sucks, both at his acting job and as a person too. He's getting worse and worse each episode and is easily the least likable in there, can't wait for him to hopefully get out on Friday for good.

The way they have pushed him into the deception thing has been laughable and his future in the house serves no purpose because anything that goes wrong will throw him into the limelight. He needs to be ousted and the producers need to allow the program to flow at its own rate. There are plenty of storylines and characters in there to keep us amused. BB prods try way too hard to manipulate the ethos of the program and in the last 3 years, they have got it wrong most of the time.
Lack of food, hard tasks and the odd secret task and subterfuge will gain better results and make the controversy believable. There are a few romances blooming but as usual, BB will interfere and screw it all up. I wouldn't be in the least surprised to see the prods arranging a romantic dinner for Callum and Charlie or even with Jackie to stir things up. They try to milk the problems to such a degree they become believable and fizzle out. |

They were told before going in that the show was going to be about secrets and lies, I don't think that is the only secret I think more secrets will unfold over course of the show, this one was quite an obvious one to create tension, once Michael leaves they will settle down as they will feel the secret has already been revealed, at least that is what I am hoping.

In my own opinion, I think Gina being a man is a likely secret. Her hands and facial structure is borderline masculine and there seems to be no real data out there to confirm her lifestyle apart from very recent stuff which looks badly thrown together. She has a picture out there on the net showing off with a very expensive handbag that has the sales ticket still attached and her storyline is somewhat hard to be believed.

Michael has done a fantastic job.
Any failings in the twist lie at the door of BB. |

I dont think people realise how hard it is to act like that in a big brother house especially when your not a housemate. When you have wolfy saying they trust you 100% its quite hard to still keep the act going, knowing that your actually lieing to people who trust you.
So yea hes doing alright.

I do agree with all you have said Jack, the suitcases saga was what turned me off this twist.
I concede that Michael has done a fair job with the acting especially as to last night when he has now got Dexter and Dan in a bit of a state with them questioning the other as to Michael's real status in the house. In some ways too, I think it is a bit of a pity that we knew of Michael being a planted actor too. They still could have involved the public as they have done as to his tasks but left us wondering as to what was going to happen with him for a few weeks too. They called him 'head housemate', as that he could have been immune from nominations for the time he was and that would have been also likely believable. Anyway, brilliant post Jack and really it's a pity someone like you isn't planning the BB tasks and ideas. Really well said and impressive. Last edited by joeysteele; 20-06-2013 at 08:27 AM. |

I think they went wrong by making him head of house, it put the spotlight on him and it's normal in the first week they'd suspect something. I agree, I think he needs to be kept in for the duration, it's actually getting quite interesting seeing how the real Michael is going to cope with living in the house day to day being despised by most of them for being an actor.

Michael has to go before the first nominations.
Will the housemates get their suitcases back when Michael goes?

Maybe Michael is not the only actor in there.
Maybe he was the sacrifice to allow the other mole to burrow in and become trusted. It would be a nice twist and a secret actually being kept from the public. I doubt BB is that clever, but you never know. |
