They met through mutual friends when they were around 15. Dated when they were 16 and got engaged on my mother's 17th birthday. Got married exactly a year later.

My mother was an usherette, she was stood on stage on the trapdoor at the wrong time and slowly disappeared with her ice creams aloft, dad thought it was hilarious, thought she looked good in her unform and stalked her until she agreed to go out with him..or so I hear.
