since its a test card based eye could it indeed be acting as a test card untill the real eye is released. i mean it does not fit in with the other eyes.

I'm pretty sure it's the real thing, if there was a "real" logo it'd probably be less complex looking than the BB8 eye so it'd be a waste of time putting more effort into a "holding" eye than a real one, lol.

just thinking about it more other years have had a bit more of varitation espicily later years whilst this just has differnt colours like a test card look:-

bb2 - pupil off set
bb3 - circles
bb4 - black lines from centre
bb5 - spiky virticle red lines
bb6 - black and blue offset
bb7 - swirls

I just thought, the new logo has green in it and pink and purple. So that kind of rules out those colours for future years, unless they reuse the same colours twice lol.

Its just different from last years. More colours, another theme of the design. I hope its not a tester, it will look great on the door of the house!

The only problem with the eye for my liking is it looks too flat. Of course that will all change once the visuals start coming out.
