Yeah anytime the press report that someone is in negotiations or whatever for the role, you can be sure he or she won't get it.

However he'd be a good choice just for the moaning some people would be triggered because he's a white male, others would be upset because he's gay. Both types of toxic fans deserve to be annoyed.

The ratings haven't dropped because Jodie is a woman, they wouldn't drop because the actor was gay. They've dropped because it's badly written.

He was a good Doctor though, despite his less than ideal companion and some of the writing.

There's some cracking stand alone eps.
