New BB spinoff Celebrity Hijack will launch on Thursday, January 3, it has been confirmed.

Fronted by Dermot O'Leary, the live launch programme will introduce the housemates - all "gifted" young individuals - as they enter the new-look BB compound.

The 90-minute show, which will simulcast on Channel 4, will also introduce the first celebrity hijacker. The celebrity hijackers will become Big Brother for a short period, setting tasks, giving instructions in the diary room and otherwise causing mischief for the housemates.

After launch night, Celebrity Hijack will settle into a daily 9pm slot on E4. As is tradition, live coverage from the house will air through the night on the channel, while Dermot will front his last ever series of BBLB weeknights at 7.30pm.

I'm actually looking more forward to it than I originally was. Because it kind of has a feeling of freshness to it, hopefully they will play around with the format lots and see what things work and what things don't work, so then they can adapt them successfully into BB9.

This month is going to fly by with Christmas and everything so it's just round the corner really. I can't wait now. I'm looking forward to this more than I would a normal CBB. I find it strange how they're showing only the launch show on Channel 4 as well.

The only reason why the launch is being shown on C4 is to gain intrest and viewing figures for the E4 highlight shows. I think we might see an advert for BBCH this week.

This will be a good way for Dermot to go, getting to host his own series.

I'm certainly intrigued by the concept of the show so at least it will be something a bit more exciting than the normal format, hopefully a few unexpected things will happen but I'm not holding my breath, the papers always spoil things.

It will be a good way for Dermot to end his time with BB though.I've always wondered how he would be presenting a main show.
