Default Do people try hard enough on the tasks?

I've been watching BB since the very start in 2000 and it seems that each year the housemates get less and less determined to win the tasks.

Its seems to me that they are relying on BB more and more to provide the things that they should be winning?

Have they become more dependent on BB for their food?

This is why UK needs Head of Household, to reinvigorate the competition and give them a reason to fight for things.

I look back on Season 5 when everyone was rolling around in mud and fish guts, and I can't imagine most of this year's house doing anything like that.

It's basically a power position, both the US and AUS it in different ways...in the US it dominates the game, the HoH is the one who nominates.

In AUS it is less crucial but still important, the winner gets to save one person from nomination.

Basically, it's power...a.k.a. money, and it makes people fight for it. Especially if you feel vulnerable in the house.

I think it has to do with all the mini tasks which gives them food and stuff even when they fail the main task. What is the incentive to do well when Big Brother crumbles and gives them extra food and drink?

Also the Big Brother has change over the years and the house doesn't get behind the tasks as a team. The house is always to divided to form achieve a spirt of team work required to pass the tasks.

Housemates don't try hard enough in tasks because there is nothing to win. In the shopping tasks they aren't bothered if they fail because BB is too easy on them and will give them alcohol and snacks on one of the nights.

I agree. Big Brother needs to be much much harder on them. It's too easy for them.

Look at the picnic two people got for completing the task. They all should have failed as a group.

I don't even think they see it is there fault they failed the task as a team. They just blame Big Brother that they failed.

When was the last time you heard a housemate in the nominations say that they were nominating a housemate because they let the house down in a task?

But does BB give in to easily?

The whole point of BB is to make them do whatever BB says surely?

If they give up they still get food if they sulk enough

I don't think they do.Many of them are just used to being spoilt in real life and don't seem to be able to motivate themselves to give their all despite going hungry.
