Default Dead Mice/Birds

This is a thread for those with cats/dogs who regularly bring them wonderful presents (as that's apparently what they think they are) of dead mice, birds, rats...or perhaps something more exotic like frogs or grass-snakes?

I have 4 cats, so this is quite regular...my back yard is always full of dead animals

I just rescued a mouse from one of my cats... I consider that my good deed for the day

Any other members with generous / malicious animals?

But is it a good deed?
It is kind of cruel in my opinion. Its like taking food from a dog really.

Debate begins!

Yeah, but that doesnt mean to say we need to control their habits. Yes, we have made them domestic animals, but cat's are natural hunters, so surely we can let them hunt without taking away their 'price'. Its the food chain, mice need predators, so why should we disrupt nature even more?

Sorry if I am being annoying, its just a topic that is debatable.

my house is a house cat so she hasnt got the opportunity to bring me presentsThe roads outside our house are extremely busy and dangerous so theres no way my mam would allow her out ,plus shes never really had the desire to go out anyway. She does love killing insects in our home though. She`ll have fun for hours sneaking up on a moth and trying to kill it.I have a dog but he doesnt tend to pay any interest to any other animal other than dogs.

I'm really lucky in the fact that my two cats arent either fast enough or are too fat to catch birds or mice so they have never (touch wood) dragged any in the house.

But my mums cat always does, my mum is often woken up in the night because her cat has brought in a half dead mouse that is still squeaking

My old dog used to bring back dead mice and drop them at our back door, so when my mum was putting laundry out on the line she'd have to avoid it, LOL.

I have a new kitten now and she's already showing hunting behaviour. I live surrounded by fields so no doubt she'll bring back some lovely presents!

Fair enough, but I think saving the mouse from a grisly death is much more noble than letting my cat eat when it doesn't necessarily need to.

Ah'v oonleh just oopenn'd a ten uf Wisskers.

Haha last time we brought our cat back from the cattery after we came back from holiday the first thing he did was go and get a mouse and left it on our patio outside the door.
He hardly ever kills animals though, mainly cos hes 14 years old and gets fed twice a day.

I hate it when I see a dead something on the road it makes me shiver. Especially when we go over it (not flattening it just going over it).

My dog thinks its a cat so often brings in stuff like this, and attempts to come through the bit of glass on the bottom half of the backdoor or through the conservatory glass probably because it thinks its a dog flap.
