I think the obvious answer here is that most of us would ignore it for both our own safety and so as to fit in. Adn we all know what we SHOULD do, but if we are being honest with ourselves, what would be actually do.
The reason I ask is because there is a girl in my year called Monique. And literally EVERYONE hates her - even the teachers (I've heard them talking). Everyone gives her a hard time and she has ZERO genuine friends. Now while obviously I feel a little sorry for her I also understand why people don't want to be friends with her - she is INCREDIBLY irritating, always assumes she is right, and last term she blatantly made up a boy who she claimed she had lost her virginity to but NOBODY knows who he is. However recently there is this girl in our year who moved here in September. She is a year younger than everyone and she's from Africa. Her name is Abrar and to be fair to her she is very friendly, fun and easy going. However when around Monique you can seriously see the age difference. She does things like if Monique sits next to her she'll move the table away really dramatically, Monique will move over too, Abrar will move further - you get the picture. Today this happened until Abrar says to her, "Monique - GET THE PICTURE. No one wants to sit beside you!" and Monique just stayed silent. Abrar also said to her "you have no friends" to which she got very angry and said she had. When asked to name one she named Maria, the girl sitting beside her. Maria is a very polite, shy girl so when asked by Abrar in front of Monique if they were friends naturally she said yes. However later she denied it. Then Monique tapped Abrar on the shoulder and told her she was on the wrong page (she wasn't as it happened) and Abrar told me to say, "Ew Abrar go wash after that!". Now as some of you may know, in my class I have very little friends. I have been desperately trying to move year groups all year. So I am really not in a position where I can jeopardise my friendship with people. So instead I just laughed and discretly shot Monique a pityful glance. And last week, a guy called Scott - a vile excuse for a human being in my opinion, is horrible to everyone except for the people who are his friends because they're scared of him - robbed her pencil case. Everyone was throwing them around the room, but then Scott opened Monqie's one, then threw it so all of her stuff went flying across the room. I think everyone was quite shocked as to how far he took it, but because it was her, no one said anything. Seh later told me when I asked her about it that it made her feel like crying but that telling wasn't an option as she was scared that if she told he would make her life even worse. Now I don't mind a little bit of slagging if I think someone deserves it. but personally I think the actions of Scott and Abrar were taking things too far. The only thing is, how can I help her without having to tell on Abrar who is a perfectly lovely girl to me. |

Depends who it was and who was doing the bullying.
For example, if it was a girl being bullied by a male, then I might say something. But if it was a boy being bullied by a boy then I'd probably just leave it, same with it being a girl bullying a girl. And it depends on the size of the bully, if they're bigger than me then I'd just leave it, can't be bothered getting into a fight with someone who I thought could kick the **** out of me. |

I witness it nearly every single day of my life.
A girl in my year gets bullied. And her best friend has went to speak to the Depute although she has done **** all about it. |

For my above post.
Everyone thinks she is a skanky bitch and almost everyone hates her. Although I don't and neither does her best friend. I actually find her very funny and I was shocked when someone in my class said to her that she needed a bath because this boy actually does 'stink'. So I was like OMG he can talk. I know this might sound a bit weird but we hang around the school library at lunch. And it is pretty hilarious. The librarian witnessed something on Monday. She has spoke to the Depute but yet again nothing has got back. |

I probably wouldn't stop the bullying, but if I was in that situation, I would become friends with the girl and give her support. If someone is bullying or patronizing someone at college I would be first to step in and tell them off, I like everyone to be equal so when someone speaks above someone else I go crazy.

I've been bullied before, both in primary and secondary school,no-one ever did anything, they were too scared. I had friends elsewhere though so I was always fine.
If I saw a genuinely nice person being bullied for no reason I'd try to be friends with them, but if it was someone irriating and I didn't like who the bullies were either, tbh I'd probably stay out of it because I'd be scared. |

It depends if I like them or not. Doesnt matter if the other person is 10 times bigger than me, I'm not scared of anyone, I'm a bit psychotic like that
There wasn't really any bullying at my school though everyone seemed to get on (even though there were loads of groups and stuff) |

See it's all nice saying to be friends with her and give her support but as I said, I personally don't actually like her as a person. I just find her aggravating.

I wouldn`t say anything to anyone in my class and I`d be a little snitch in this case and tell a teacher, this never normally solves anything because teachers often ignore bullying but at least you know you will have done the decent thing and noone in your class has to know.

It sounds to me like classic pack mentality. I feel so sorry for Monique. Annoying as she may be she doesnt deserve to be bullied.
You have a few ring-leaders that nobody will stand up to and the rest are just sheep, sadly. You can stand up and stick up for Monique but this would cause you to become subjected to the ridicule that she has been getting. You could become her friend but this may lead to the same situation as above. Or you could do nothing, like everyone else. Its a safe bet but so long as you are not the one who ridicules the poor girl or joins in with it then you remain impartial and higher above the lowlives that are making her life hell. Personally I would try and become her friend. But that the kind of person I am |
